Article in Shamrock County Star News about Samnorwood ISD. They will vote to become dormant after this school year (May 2012). They are currently in discussion with surrounding School districts to see who would accept them (Consolidation). They want to move as a unit to another district and not be broken apart. Turns out the County Commissioners court has jurisdiction on where they end up. The surrounding/adjacent districts are Shamrock, Wellington, Hedley, and McLean.

The school district has only 24 students this year (of which only 5 actually live in the district), 3 teachers, 1 staff member, 3 buildings, 2 houses, 4 buses, 1 tractor, 1 lawnmower, and 60 computers. The district is approximately 400 sq miles in size.

Inevitable given last year's meltdown. A real shame that another small rural school bites the dust.

And one older 4x4 suburban parked across the street from the gym. Wish I had it!!

Like others have said its really sad!! We are feeling the enrollment crunch again this year.

I say combine em with Hedley or Mclean. The others have decent numbers.
