RS vs MILFORD

while strength and size are important 6man is mostly about speed, quickness, and execution.

So 6 man football is the only game where speed, quickness, and execution are important?
Nowhere in his post did it imply that 6man was the ONLY game where speed, quickness and execution are important. Smh

Absolutely not. It's important in 11 man, baseball, basketball, the rest of the world's "futboll", and I bet the Guru would agree, tennis. My point was the sterotypical "steroid enhanced" football player - a 6' plus 300# lineman is not as highly coveted in 6m as 11 beause he's not usually that fast and often not as quick which also can affect his execution. I.E the "bemoths of the line" in 11m can actually be a hindrance in 6m. Put 6 good fast, quick well coached "normal sized" kids in 6m in a spread up against 6 of the "bemoth's" and they will run through and around them (or the qb will run circles around the rushers before finding a wideopen receiver that ran past them). I guess my real point is I take exception to the implication that Strawn or virtually any 6m school is a place where steroid use would be encouraged or even tolerated.
I think I read on a previous post your a former 6 & 11m Coach which I'm not. What's your take?

I thought that schools were tested for steroid/drug use , my son was!!!!! I'm not from Strawn and have no ties to Strawn but I don't like the implication that they use steroids, I do not think any coach would condone this..

I would not count out Strawn against the winner of this game in the semifinal. I do not think people understand that the loss to Gordon cant not be factored in to any statistical column.
God I hope not, then we have to listen to Andy brag about steroid high(oops I meant Strawn) the rest of the year.

I'd call this person a moron, but I'd really hate to demoralize morons.

Well said , I would have to agreed!

I was NOT trying to be smart. But huge lineman a hindrance is a joke. You don't have to play both sides of the ball. Find me any coach with a decent back who wouldn't want your prototypical lineman and you've found a coach I don't want to coach with. Those guys WILL get you the job done. Then rest them on D and go score again on offense.

Yea, lets just forget the fact the these "prototypical linemen" are not only blockers, but also eligible receivers who will need to run FAST when they catch the ball.

I think Tallman has flipped, and also knows very little about 6 man. Calling any 6 man team steroid users is to much. I've had RS players work on the ranch during the summer, these are hard working good young men. They take their work serious as they do football.. Now Milford is a very good team no doubt , they may win tonite or RS may, but RS and Milford will have my respect either way. SIC 'EM COYOTES...

I guess that's why throck, rankin, and Borden county, all with BIG boys offensively are still playing or just finished playing. My bad

Can't speak for Rankin or BC, but I make it a point to watch Throckmorton & what big boys are you talking about there? They are TYPICAL 6-Man lineman. All can receive. All can run. Also they don't get a lot of "rest on D" due to the fact that to be competitive, most 6 Man teams (not all) have their best on both sides of the ball.
You sure you're not an 11 Man fan as your profile suggests? Or a Prototypical Lineman as your screen name suggests??

Throckmorton by no means is not typical 6 man. Their center is a pretty good sized kid and not what I would call FAST. Why do you have to throw the ball? Big boys don't have to be FAST when you are running the football.
