Paint that water tower

I was travelling somewhere (in Texas) and remember coming into one of these small towns and the first thing you saw was this huge billboard that said "Welcome to .....Home of the 198? Sixman Football State Champions" . Anybody know what I'm talking about here? or what town that was ? and , if your team has won a state championship, did the city honor that team (in anyway) I have seen city water towers painted of 11 man teams.

Really, the point of this tread was to say that ,I don't believe 6 man football gets nearly the respect that it should...and that is a product of simple ignorance of 11 man fans who never have seen a good 6 man game.....Cherokee got it right... (it cost 250,000 $ to paint even a small water tower ... ( the visiting team used to paint our water tower for free :lol: )

Well I disagree. All 6man towns are well aware of what it means to be part of our nation.

Mullin has a sign.
Strawn has two such signs.
RS has even more.
If everyone who has won state doesn't have one I would be very surprised!!!

Fort Hancock has all 5 titles painted on a local water tower. Anyone who has drove on I-10 east of El Paso can be my witness. They also have a state of texas monument (sp?)on campus honoring all its state championships.
