Nostalgia - This week in 1965

Thanks, and J'boro only lost 1 game in '68. Sounds like they may have benefited big time from the closure.
It's an ill wind that blows no good.

Here is what I was able to dig up so far:

1966

Turnersville

Offense
Norris Flemming - Center
Larry Pruitt, Robert Jeffcoat - ends
Flanagan Nichols - full back
Nelson Star - Halfback
James Baize - Quaterback

Jonesboro

Offense
Bill Ashby
Bill Massingill
Bobby Murray
Defense
Ray Summerfield
Randy Robuck
Bill Ashby

1967

Jonesboro

Offense
Bill Ashby - Back
Flanagan Nichols - Back
Ray Summerfield - Quaterback
Bobby Murray - End
Larry Pruitt - End
Randy Robuck - Center
Defense
David Young
Mickey Perry

Thanks. Looks like it was a pretty good mix.
My kids went to Aldine. In '78 Aldine Carver closed down and their kids could go to any Aldine school. Several went to Aldine High and two of them were superstuds. We won district for the first time in 20 years. It was a good mix.

Here is part of the paper after they were beaten by coolidge. I coldnt clip the entire piece. Most was unreadable from the scanning.

Thanks for the post and the research, looks like J'boro had some stars in their own right.
Man, Pruitt was doing some concentration on that catch, wasn't he?
J'boro had a pretty balanced attack, but Coolidge went thru the air.
I made a post about the same time you made this one. If you didn't catch it, please look back.
I appreciate your time.
