Most Controversial Game Ever?

What do you think was the most controversial game ever?
Your thoughts and was you there to witness it all!

The top 1 that comes to mind (I was not there), was the:
> 1996 State Championship Game...... Whittharral (50) vs. Gordon (51)

2007 Eden vs Richland Springs. Even though there is no love lost between the two, with a rivalry going back many decades, Richland Springs tried every way to make the game go quickly in order for the Bulldogs to get away without total embarrassment. That was a little bit hard to accomplish with the 2007 Coyote team being one of the best teams overall in the history of sixman football. Eden kept calling pass plays, one after another, stopping the clock. There was no way Eden could stay on the field in a passing situation (or any other for that matter) even with the Coyote backups. Eden would throw the ball up in panic, and bad things were happening hand over fist. They even, in one panic attack, threw the ball out of the back of the endzone from fear of being tackled. The score wound up being 96 to 0.
The really embarrassing part for the Bulldogs was when the Eden Superintendent came across the field after the game to chastise the Coyotes for, in his eyes, their taking advantage of the Eden team. He even went so far as to punch one of the coaches. Eden could have gotten out with something closer to a 45 - 0 score and finished the game a whole lot earlier. Some folks are just clueless.
The Coyotes were then severely criticized on this board for being the bully.
I was there, and an eye-witness to all of that Controversial Catastrophe!

Was that the "fifth down" game?

That private school game where one coach got college kids to play for him and got busted for it...Rick Reilly wrote a a piece about it in sports illustrated. No I was not at the game

Next two have already been mentioned and I was at both those games 1996 and 2000 State Games.

Id probably say 2000 state game over the 96 one as the inadvertent whistle for sure killed a potential game winning TD trick play and the 96 state game Gordon was flagged for a penalty on a TD pass that they didnt commit...but some might think that makes that game more controversial.

The most controversial football game I have ever seen in person or on film was the 2004 Throckmorton-Calvert playoff game. Watched it on two different tapes. From what I saw The Trojans were the victims of at least three horrible calls which swung the game in Throck's favor. Had BLM been around the Greyhound Purple-Crazies wouldn't have gotten past the human roadblocks 'til Christmas. (:

I think it was Texas Christian out in Houston area...Granger probably knows for sure

One of the All-Star games around 1979 or 1980 was controversial as the coach just played like 6 players the whole game, or so the story goes. HPDrifter would be able to fill in more of the details...no I was not present (or of this world yet) when the game was played

The offending school was Texas Christian from Houston. I still remember getting the email from Granger that a parent of a TCHS kid sent, surprised to see the TCHS score that weekend, since, as he wrote "half the team was playing video games at my house that night." NYOS was the "injured party." By the way, NYOS won that game as the ringers ran out of gas in the third quarter. As the SI sportswriter said, "by the third quarter, they were more ex- than players."
