Location of State Championships and the cost

Forget AT&T boys, Jerry won't let us return because it doesn't make good business sense. No profit. Unless...I say unless he does it to make himself appear noble, and I don't think he sees six-man as a necessary way for him to look noble.
Read some of any of his books and you'll get a better feel for how his mind views every thing.
I could be wrong. He is a complicated cat.
Jerry is motivated by the bottom line. With the UIL involved I am fairly confident in saying Jerry would have a guaranteed minimum gate for all games including the 10 crowded field games.
Still curious about attendance numbers at Shotwell. Even in the heart of our world, I thought attendance was fairly small. Significantly less than the last two years at the Deathstar.

You know, it's awfully easy to pile on Jerry Jones. Awfully easy (and he still runs to the bank with all his loot regardless of how much you pile on him).

But one thing Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have been good about is making AT&T Stadium (and Texas Stadium in the past) available for high school games. There have been times he's allowed area high schools to play there -- and even if a crowd of a couple thousand show up, it probably isn't generating any serious income (probably a loss) once you figure even simple security (let's face it, you don't want people using the event as an excuse to roam the stadium and cause damage/trouble/whatever (think all the security/terrorist concerns).

I know of a couple 11-man private school teams that played there, and they were allowed to use the big screen (and hey, you just don't ask Joe to run the scoreboard; there's technicians and camera people who probably were on Jerry's clock that day) and such. Listen, if any high school team asked my Packers to use Lambeau Field, they'd be quickly (but politely) shown the door. I'd be surprised if there has been a high school game there in 30 years ... I think the upcoming Wisconsin-LSU college game there next fall is probably the first non-Packers game in that time.

I'm sure Jerry's deal with UIL isn't set so he loses money, but then again, the sponsors for the Fox SW cable folks probably easily cover the rental. Plus the six-man game, especially when it is the day before a Cowboy home game, is sure a nice PR for Jerry, the Cowboys and the NFL.

Moons ago, I guy I know played a state championship at Wylie. After arriving at the stadium he had to mark 5 yard lines and then dress the team in a equipment shed. That being said, and it was long ago, he said he would have played in the parking lot. This guy says a lot of stuff, but just saying.

hmmm, wonder who that guy you know was? nudge-nudge, wink-wink

You almost had me tearing up....
No one is "piling" on poor ole JJ. It bites my rear when someone infers six-man is second fiddle because we may not be playing where double-A or six-A is playing. Reeks of keeping up with the Jones's. Poor six-man isn't treated like Lake Travis.
I hope our character is deeper than that.

Read an article in the THSCA newsletter on the state championship attendance this year compared to last year. Apparently the official gate numbers in divisions 2-A thru 6-A were 96,000 fewer than last year. So we could argue that the difference was in the fact that six-man (1-A) was absent from the schedule and therefore the lack of attendance.

Of course there is little possibility of this being true, but who knows. Distance is the most likely culprit. Without further data the UIL will surely act to return 1-A to the schedule...just in case. And hopefully the location is likewise improved.
