Kicking PAT After Mercy Rule TD

Tonight in Blackwell v Olfen

Blackwell scores a TD to go up 74-28...46 points...refs have them kick the PAT (which they missed)

I asked the white hat as they left why they did the PAT bc the game was over by mercy rule

He nicely explained bc of district tie breaker points they do the PATs

I though and said districts have capped points for games so it doesnt matter and wouldnt help any...he didnt respond


Am I crazy on this bc I have never heard that before?

I don't know the rule, but I have also heard they have to attempt a PAT in district games.

The game is over and the try should not be attempted. The rule about playing the try for district tie breakers only applies to touchdowns when time expires. When the game ends by mercy rule, the game ends immediately.

Thought so and nicely tried to explain this when he hit me with the tie breaker thing which also didnt make sense...

it was an odd thing I dont think I have seen before
