No, they played 11 man games against some of the old 8 man schools at times.

Has eight man ball ever been played in Texas? I don't know. Heard it was played in Oklahoma and did not Troy Aikman play eight man in Okie?

8 man was played in Texas from 1958 to 1975. Unofficially, one district, the one with Pflugerville, Hutto, Prairie Lea, Kyle, and Buda played 8 man in 1957, but went back to 6 man for the playoffs. I played 8 man at Garden City. We played against Sterling City, Borden County, Klondike, Dawson, Southland, Medina, Wellman, Union, Whitharral, Cotton Center, Three Way, Smyer, Grady, and Loop. Most of the existing 6 man schools in the Panhandle area played 8 man at one time. Highland, Ira, Hermleigh, Blackwell, and Trent are exceptions.
