Friends............

I consider all on this board as friends maybe even family. My wife's childhood home was destroyed by fire on April 2nd. We lost nothing but memories. Her aunt and uncle lost everything. No loss of life but lots of "stuff".

You can't be prepared for everything. We all suffer from losses of various kinds. Hold close the ones you love and remember "stuff".

Don your so right and no one knows on any given day when disaster will strike their family. One thing we can count on is FRIENDS. When our friends get to praying, bad turns into good. I hope this board will all come together in one great big friendship being there for each other. Great post Don. It means a lot.

Please pass on to them, thoughts & prayers of others are with them. Fires are devestating. Been thru/watched my parents go thru that. Forunately was a 2nd home & they wern't there. Lot's of family heirlooms/pictures/geneaology lost along with Peaches (dog) & Puff (cat). Affected them emotionally somewhat the rest of their lives. All due to carelessness/negligence on anothers part. Remember searching thru the ashes with my dad for his wedding ring he'd left on the dresser. He cried when he found it.

I watched my sisters and my brothers house burn down, it was 10 years between the two. On my siss I managed to get in the house as the firemen were spraying everything and saved my brother-in-laws book collection, couldn't get to anything else. To this day he talks about it.

On my brothers house it was in the attic and did not burn anything else, they did have smoke damage on everything but managed to save all the memories.

I lost all my memories in my last divorce. Took all my picture albums, trophies, annuals, everything. We were only married 3 years. Judge ordered her to give them to me and she says she does not know where they are.

It is sad losing stuff from your past as I well understand. My prayers go with those that have had to go through such a tradegy.

Regarding this thread & 1 on fires stared by Melani. Article posted on MSN about 10:00 CST about TX & OK fires. 2 dead in Montague Co. (where my parents were when their other place burned), schools, apartments, homes evacuated, HWyY 287 shut down (in Wichita Co.). That chance of rain Sat. night/Easter Sunday can't get here quick enough.

Fires are a horrible thing to happen to anyone. My heart goes out to anyone that's had to go through one. The rains came a couple of days short before the fires had hit. The Good Lord did hear our prayers as some places in Fort Worth and surrounding counties got close or a little over 3 inches of rain.

God is good...All the time!! Even in times of disaster! There is always a reason for what people go through, and many times I don't know why. All I do know is that God is faithful! It says in Psalms 40 "I waited patiently for the Lord. He turned to me and he heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pits, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet upon a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Many will see and will hear and will put there trust in the Lord." That being said, I don't know why these fires have happened but they have happened. All we can do is wait patiently and cry out to the Lord. He will here us and will deliver!
