Division I vs. Division II

I wish UIL would've left six man out of the split myself, or at least played a title game between the D1 and D2 teams. Then you could've truly seen who was the best in the game.

And like I say every time someone says this, then have the 2A State Champ play the 6A State Champ for a "true" champion. Or if we're comparing apples to apples, have the 2A play the 3A DII champ, since their attendance is about double as well. Sounds silly when if you take the word sixman out of the conversation, and yet it gets brought up every year.

To be fair coach that isnt the same comparison...the point they are making is with in the same classification there should be 1 champion and said nothing about jumping up classifications. A mistake often made by people is thinking that D1 and D2 are like 2 different classifications...they arent...it is apples and oranges.

And to compare the enrollment differences as "double" is bending it to fit your argument...Jonesboro 68 and Richland Springs is 38...ya its 30 more but your 2A v 6A is like 700+ more....again not comparable

Also based on this argument the schools with the highest enrollment should win state every year or at least play for state every year...and they dont! Why is that...because enrollment plays a minimal part of it all in the grand scheme of it, it's more about coaching and athletes and just because you have more kids doesnt mean you have better athletes.

To be fair when this first happened in 2006 I didnt like it, but now some days I like the 2 divisions and some days I dont as it has problems...but nothings perfect so lets keep that in mind. I know some well respected coaches that dont like it and at this point now Im not sure if a majority of them wanted to move back to 1 division that they could get it done. I dont think the division split will go away.

In the end its a numbers game...teams with HS enrollment of 20 vs teams with 100+....how can you justify that???

Playing devil's advocate here, but isn't that the case with every other 1A sport? Using the argument of schools w/enrollments of 20 vs teams with 100+ would have to be applied to argue for a split of every other 1A sport IMO. I'm not saying that teams making the playoffs is bad - I hate 4 team districts, I'd personally rather play 6 district games (home & home) in a 4 team district and have 6 games that count than have only 3 games that count to make it to the post season. An injury or two in week 10 can change a teams fortunes dramatically at our level.

Your solution of playing each district opponent twice is also a good idea. That would solve part of the scheduling problem, and would be a lot better than the current situation.
The school's administrators should like this idea to cut down on transportation costs also.

An aside, as I don't feel like commenting in depth at the moment but... Is there anywhere else where district size, number of playoff teams, playoff sites or dates for sixman or 11 man are discussed? I guess an individual can express his or her opinion to the UIL. But that's kind of like a fly byte'n a mule's ass.
Public opinion on the matters should be of great importance to them as they oversee Public Schools.
Oops, fell off soapbox.

Come on Coach, we both know that's not comparable. In no way would Allen vs Mason be anywhere close to fair. I just know from experience that there is always the question of who is the true champ, if their are two in each classification. Could D1 beat D2? That's where it would be a great final game.
