Q & A:
Leman Saunders: Who would you say are/where your coaching mentors?
John: Clyde Parham, Nathan Hayes and my brother Josh Stanaland are my 3 coaching mentors. All 3 of those guys pushed me and my teammates to be the best we could be day in and day out. But my brother has had the biggest impact on me as a coach, player and person. He is always really supportive no matter what the situation is and he'll always be there to talk when I need to.
LS: If you could tell first year head coach Josh Stanaland something what would it be?
John: Culture is more important than wins. Building a solid culture is the key to a successful program. Wins and losses will come and go but the impact I can have on these kids will last forever.
LS: Is preparing for this game, coaching against your brother, any different than preparing for any other game?
John: No different. We just have to attack things one play at a time. Jayton is finally all healthy so we'll have our hands full for sure.
