Christway

Since they have already been crowned champs... Who will play them in the state championship game?

Let's just play the season anyway, just for fun.

I'm still not writing off Fredericksburg Heritage.

yeah John if I remember right, last year before the season started everybody was crowning Glenview or Covenant and not giving anybody else a chance, well, you can see how that turned out. So I agree, lets just play out the season and see what happens. This is the most wide open season I can ever remember where there is no clear cut, consensus #1 team.

the three teams that i can see going to the championship game are Freddy, christway, and Notre Dame. these three teams will go to the final four. It will be exciting to say the least.

you don't know what your talking about commish. you don't know what each team has returning, nor do you know which teams picked up any new stud players. until you see the teams play, you are just speaking to hear yourself talk. again, nobody knows who the front runners are until about mid-year. cmon, lets get real.

BINGO Tepryde!!! Those are my opinions i was making them known to maybe start some kind of conversation on this board, seeing as though there is hardly any these days.

just give it a few more days and it'll be booming. there is no need to come on here and make blanket statements. if you have reasons as to why you think your team will do well, just state them, and maybe it will be taken more seriously if your not anonymous.

Arlington Fellowship is looking pretty good with the new additions to the team.(Coaches and Players) This district is wide open. People keep talking about Notre Dame, Christway, and whoever. Lets be honest Last year SA Town East was solid, Glenview, Freddy, and Covenant in d2. How does Notre Dame and Christway jump in front of everybody. Notre Dame has a new coach with very little or no experience at all. I coached defense against most of these school last year. Christway does have speed and they are very young with a good coaching staff. I remember the game against them at their place in which our defense only gave up three tds, and we took care of business on the offensive side of the ball. I'm not going to knock Christway, but guys be honest. Christway will be strong. Most of us coaches are in two-a-day camp trying to take it day by day. Remember God is everything!!

Me? I'm just a fan of the game, an outsider. But i like Notre Dame cause i graduated from there a number of years ago. I've seen these guys play since they werelittle and theyve grown around eachother in every sport they do be it football or basketball or baseball. They have a couple of new kids this year and from what ive seen in their two a days they have a strong running game anchored by a couple of guys and the passing game looks solid too. You can see a video of Notre Dame on http://www.kauz.com/sports/26855104.html. But that last pass from Lyne was a little high...

And i also picked freddy cause they are solid almost every year. and Christway because im confident in what people have to say about them on here.

Its ok to be confident, but be careful. Don't believe everything that people write on this message board. I know that the athletic department is solid at Notre Dame. Their football, volleyball, and baseball teams are solid and that says alot about the kids and coaching staff over there. Like coach from Town East said there is no front runner this year. Remember God is everything! Life on earth is short. Live day by day!

And the champs ... Heritage .... are the champs until somebody beats them.

Deep squad, seasoned, and honestly, as I say, maybe not bright enough to realize they've lost their star and aren't supposed to win it all ... in other words, a bunch of kids and coaches who aren't especially experienced at losing. They have some juniors and seniors that were important parts of that championship run ... and if each of them just kicks up their game a notch, it may cover losing that star.

I can see some game when they're down 20-16 to a team that should be beating them 40-12 and just their familiarity with winning enough to score that last touchdown for the win.

does anybody know what freddy's record was with ramsey?

Something like 42-3, with the three losses coming in his junior year (St. Albans, Town East, Covenant). Heritage ran a 36 game winning streak before losing to St. Albans over three years. The streak began when Robert Ramsey was in 8th grade, and I believe he did not play that season (I think he had an older brother who did, as much as I remember, there is only one Ramsey kid left at Heritage, a daughter. Tim Shipman has discussed with the Ramsey family about having a few more sons, but Mrs. Ramsey has vetoed the idea.)

Trivia question. What team did Heritage beat in the game before the streak began (the game before the loss) and the game after the streak ended? Same team, both times.

Answer: Seguin Lifegate, in 2003 (Lifegate's first game, Heritage won 32-13; they lost to New Braunfels Christian the following week) and in 2007 (Heritage won 30-16).

Extra credit bonus question: 2002 was Heritage's first year. What was their record and what team(s) did they beat?

Answer: 1-6 (could be 1-7), with the win in the final game at Castroville Daystar, who only played one year of football.

John,
I couldn't agree with you more! Freddy is the defending champ and until someone knocks them off they should remain the favorite in Division 1.Everyone is excited about the up coming season and they all want to proclaim themselves pre-season favorites. Everyone wants to toot their own horns without even hitting the field.Let the games begin, and let the play on the field determine who should be rated high! Good luck to all this season. We(Nazarene Christian Academy) play both Christway and Arlington Fellowship, and after we play them we will have a little better gage on how good they are, until then we'll just keep working hard and let the chips fall where they may.

God Bless, Coach Brian Rodricks

I always think it's funny :D how the teams that talk the most usually have questionable records. If you look on the boards, very few posts from Glenview, Freddy, Covenant, Rockwall, Greenville, etc. Where do all the posts come from?????

I guess it's the players and fans (and coaches) with the most time on their hands. The ones who usually aren't playing past 1st or 2nd week of November. Just a observation.

Amen to that!! You hit the nail on the head with that observation. Just for the record though I guarantee you that Coach O'connor at Christway is not doing any talking,it must be players or former players.Coach O'connor will have his team ready to go,and playing solid football by the time the season rolls around.

FREDDY WAS IN D2 LAST YEAR AND THEY ARE IN D2 THIS YEAR.

At the speed that school is growing, I expect they'll move up to D1 in the next realignment. I think they thought it might have happened last year (for 2008), but they're at the top end of the enrollment numbers ...
