Aquilla-Abbott

wow MJ where you even at the game? Abbott only had 1 first down when Shay went out with a knee injury, it would have been a completely different game defensely if he had not went out hurt. Your #22 threw a punch and it was the second one in the game he had thrown to 2 different players, the Ch 10 sports guys were even commenting on it on the sideline. He got what he derserved and they made the right call, the Aquilla player didn't touch the rabbit, he threw his hands in the air so the swing is what the refs would see. I can see why David from Penelope complained about officiating in last weeks game, the refs in this weeks game was horrible!!! They waved off several calls against Abbott after the Abbott coach whined and threw a fit in his sideline officials ear. Aquilla had 3 touchdowns called back, this game wasn't near as close as the score looked. Irrigardless the Cougars beat Abbott just like eveyone said they would. I know Cowboy thinks this is a "friendly" rivalry, but after tonight I can promise you there won't be one Cougar player supporting that Panther team this year, it was a very dirty played game!!! Congrats Cougars on a great win, looking forward to watching you play Penelope. Two good teams, going head to head without all the "trash talking" and cheap shot football that went on tonight!!!

Sixmanfan3, please tell me where you learned sportsmanship at. Crying about the zebras after a win is real classy. Calling the team you just beat a dirty team and telling them you hope they lose out is a whole other level class.

Antagonist, maybe you should learn to read a little a better before you open your mouth. I made a statement about the officiating, not "whining" about it, I made the statement I can see where David would be upset about it, if the refs were that bad last week as I heard they were. Aquilla won irregardless and if you spend very much time on this board, you will see there is alot of reference to the refs, but normally it's after a loss, so that should tell you how bad they were becasue my comment was after a win!
You want to talk about class? Explain that one to #10, who has received text messages from some players from the opposing team on "how they were going to hurt him this week", "how they were going to break his leg" etc, yea that's real classy. Then there is the fan that yells out "hit him in the knee again with your helmet if he gets up" all while the kid is laying on the field, yea that's classy. I never said I wouldn't support any Abbott, I said there is no way our players from Aquilla will support them and that goes the same for Abbott, there is no way they will support Aquilla, heck they sat on Throckmorton's side last year in the Semi's, this isn't some "shocker' the dislike between these 2 teams. Maybe you shouldn't spout off at the mouth before you completely read a post or know the facts behind it! Seems like alot of Aquilla supporters are not the only ones that dont like or respect Abbott, you hear the same from Bynum & Penelope supporters, and those 3 teams have no problem supporting each other! You can call me what you want, but those are teenagers not adults playing that game on Friday night, and when there are references made to hurting wanting intentionally, then yes then I classify that as dirty playing!!!

i like your honesty. i never could understand why anyone who doesnt want to shake the other teams hand is considered a bad sport.. if you are ok after a loss you didnt want it bad enough.
Didn't you listen to the Pro's
after the Ranger's game?
Even they don't crybaby/pout
like you suggest?

You can't understand??
You're either kidding,
or stupid.

In a public school setting
you're philosophy
is more than ridiculous.
It's the problem.

No matter what, at the end of the game, I think both teams should always shake hands. Unfortunately, their has to be a winner and a loser, it especially sucks if you are on the losing end of a big rival game, but no matter what you show good sportsmanship and shake hands. Despite the fact that both teams were trashtalking each other in the Aquilla-Abbott game, at the end of the game every player, coach and cheerleader shook hands. I don't think the loseing team necessarily didn't want it bad enough, they sometimes just come up short or the better team just wins!

Well said!
I can't believe we still have coaches
who have such bad philosophies
on sportsmanship and winning/losing.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........!!!!!!!!!!

There are several posts I want to reply to, so here goes.
mj- what happened to be man enough to avoid excuses? yes Aquilla would have won by more if #10 wouldn't have gotten hurt. Look at the scores until he went out. Abbott's #22 needed to be ejected, but Aquilla's #23 should have been ejected as well. There was no hit in the facemask and bump of shoulder. Those two had been taking cheap shots at each other the entire game.
As far as the "so called fumble", and the penalties, the refs did a good job and called the game as fair as possible. Remember, I had a better view of the game than most.

Leroy33- thank you for your post. The kids from both sides left it all on the field, and gave us a great game to watch.

Sixmanfan3- You need to take a step back and stop making excuses. Not all Abbott players played dirty, and not every Aquilla player played nice. Don't make promises about the players. This crap happens every year and both teams still end up supporting each other. When you make comments like these, you just make things worse. I haven't heard the boys mouthing about it, so why would you?

antagonist- you made some good points.

Dogface- just keep doing what you do.

sixmanfan3 i have the facts i was at the game. i talked to folks from both sides and you are the only one talking trash about the team not backing each other. it was a ruff n tumble rivalry game. pull your head out of your hindend and stop talkin trash. i hope your a kid not a parent or teacher

my, my antagonist...............such antagonistic language...... perhaps we should light a campfire between Aquilla & Abbott, have some s'mores & sing Kumbaya..............

Cowboy, my view was just as good and I know what I saw! I surely didn't hear any Abbott fans yelling at the players to hit #10 in the knee. I hope he is ok and can play against Penelope.

in hindsight my statements on this thread were not appropriate. i do believe in sportsmanship. and do not support hurting a player in any other way than a legal hit. i do believe that it is understandable to have very hard feelings between the participants and the hand shake does not really have the meaning of good sportsmanship that the observers see it to mean. i also don’t believe it is dirty play to hit the players that can hurt your team on every play to help discourage them, or to take them out of there game. i know we can see things from the stands but you don’t hear or see the things that happen on the field.. i think refs try to call it as fair as possible. i do encourage anyone to volunteer and participate in this portion of our game. i congratulate the winner and condolence to the looser..
but most of all I apologize for my previous statement

I think he meant take them out of their game mentally.

no intention to hurt a child. in the terms of knees ankles etc or due to any injury but to disrupt his desire to compete in the ways he has been taught by his coaches.
