Finally got a copy of the Alumni game and the first thing that must be said is a couple of those gentlemen need to get to the nearest college asap! NO KIDDING!!! Waste no more time. What r u waiting for? You got the "playmaking ability", trust this old fart and get to it.

The new style now is exactly the way you played sixman. Trust this proclamation---You guys can make an impact at the college level, if u have the desire, of course.

I just found out one of them has joined the military...cool, but the army will always be there for you, your athletic window will not.

Ya'll piss me off so I'm going to go kick the neighbors wife right in her hippopotamass. Hope her husband don't care...prolly can't whoop him.

The sad part is there are a ton of those kids out there. Everyone of them should be in college representing.....

BE, I know what you mean. But, the way the colleges are now days, the likelyhood of one of those boys even getting looked at is very remote at best. The only criteria used by the college coaches is "BIG". First off if the player is not huge, forget it. If he doesn't come from a big school, forget it. Especially a six-man school. They no longer take into consideration the size of HEART in the player, or even if he is a BIG PLAY MAKER. The WANT-TO factor is a thing of the past, along with WORK ETHIC. Nowdays the Tommy McDonalds, the Wes Welkers, ....etc. are only proof that every now and then a blind hog will find an acorn.

JS, your probably right, but I will go too my grave believing that if the desire and love is deep enough anything is still possible. I think a critical mistake is made when some young men focus too much on the prestige and size of the school. They focus on those universities that are featured every Sat. and during Bowl season. But do they realize how many 5A kids can't make it at that level. For every sixman player whose dream is unrealistic there are a thousand big school boys in the same situation. The difference is many of them don't give up. Here are a couple examples: I saw a kid from Dublin in the early 80s, Bill Boy Bryant may be his name, above average talent who could play football, basketball and golf who had a couple of offers from small schools who really wanted to play for Texas. He disappeared for three years, then one fall I saw him getting playing time at receiver. The next year he started as a fifth year senior and made big plays for them all year and had a huge bowl game performance.

Another youngster named Shipley, no not Jordan, his little brother followed his brother to Texas and you know how his story is working out. I watched him in high school and he was not physically gifted but had a streak of desire and passion for the game a mile wide.

Well, both these kids would have had a much earlier and easier go had they played for a Division II team. But they never gave up and had immense stores of patience which payed off eventually.

I think when sixman players go off to college and realize they will have to get in line and be patient because the college Quo is to use the ones who were there before you, they can't do that. Sixman was pretty easy for them and the reward was instant, now it's going to take two or three years before they realize a part of their dream. The sacrifice is just too much. So then they get wrapped up in the party scene and let their studies go and before long the obstacles are too difficult to overcome.

It's okay to move on from playing a game, I wish they would stay in school though. I am proud they move on with their lives, but if you have a love of football then stay in there and fight for the opportunity to do it as a paying career.

It's especially too bad for a couple of those youngsters at the Alumni game. They both have God-given ability rarely seen at any level, I mean any level. One has the legs and moves of a Peterson and the other has the best playmaking ability I've seen since Tarkington. They are cheating themselves...they are cheating football fans of great moments. I love them anyway. To use the expression of a certain hound, I'm "just saying".

On my soap box for this one. This drives me crazy !!! If your a D1 coach you can't tell me that out of all the kids playing 6 man ball that not 1, not 1, could play for you? I'm throwing the horsehockey flag. These coaches go crazy over some QB in a summer 7 on 7 league thinking he's the next coming of Joe Montana and then stinks it up for the next 4 years. The 6 man pool is an untapped market for talent. Maybe one day they will wake up and figure it out. I would really like to see a 6 man kid get a shot, play really well maybe be an All-American then maybe coaches would be more willing to take a chance on a 6 man kid. Sure there are differences in the game but your a D1 coach. You mean to tell me that you can't teach a kid how to play 11 man. You need to be doing something else. Ok off my soap box.

Well hopefully Mr. Ross from Calvert will give them a run for their money down at Texas Tech... Might be worth going to watch a college game again.

I also like this game, I often play it with my younger brother. Every time i lose because am not a good player of this game, And want to become a good player.Because football is my favorite sports game.
