First Team All-District "Special Teams Player" is a prime example of these 1st Team accolades being convoluted. A line needs to be drawn somewhere.

Again, the all-state team is picked from the 60 odd teams in each division. In order to select that team (and it is difficult because some of the voters have not seen all the nominees) If you do not select the players at district level at those positions, then you have more problems at regional and state level. If you have any questions or problems contact Coach Holloway at Miami ISD.

Maybe I will! (No I won't). It has no effect on my life whatsoever...just voicing my opinion. I'm glad you refrained from writing in All Caps. You could have hurt my feelings...

i say having so many awards doesn't do anything but promote mediocrity.
Kids get accolades for just showing up. When asked why they work so hard, most kids say "I want to win championships" I've never heard a kid say I want to be 1st team all-district. (Some have said all-state)

I would like to see the numbers of 1st team all-district honors be based on the number of teams in the district and based on D1/D2

For example: a D2 4 team district could have 7 1st team awards after offensive MVP.
Make it an All-star type team not based on positions.

Then the same at all-region. If you are one of the top 8 players in a 16 team region, now that's something to be proud of. Not you are the TE with most TDs because your team threw the ball more than others.

I've seen too many 1st team honors who wouldn't start for the #1 or #2 teams in the district.

Does anyone else feel like there needs to be a change?

This makes me curious...Coaches nominate kids for All-District, and Coaches vote for kids for All-District. 1) Why would a coach nominate a kid who isn't a hard worker? and 2) why would coaches vote for a kid if he is not the best in that position?

Joe, I am just commenting. I think there are too many myself. Glad did not hurt your feelings. As to All-State it is a tough job, years ago a team had 3-7 record and had 5 all state players. Some asked said coach if you had that many good kids, looks like you would have done better, must be coaching. Just saying.

Good luck to teams playing for state, know who my picks are but not really important. Hope no one gets hurt, and wishing Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.

You ought to contact Coach Holloway, he is an esteemed individual who has good stories. ha

One last thought coaches many times vote for other coaches kids because of politics or friendships. What can I say.
