My experience with 5/7/9-Man Football in Italy

I'm recently back in the U.S. from living and coaching football in Italy. I was supposed to be there through July but the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus. We had a very comprehensive program with teams at all levels. I was coaching the Division 1 adult team but also had coaching...

Played at Southeastern University in Lakeland Florida. Fanning Springs Riverside Christian (11-1) defeated Gainesville Cornerstone Academy 47-0 (10-1). Ave Maria Donahue Academy went 6-0 but didn't go to the playoffs for some reason. They moved from 8-man to 6-man right before the season so...

A Look at My (Failed) Attempt to Bring Six-Man to Maryland

In March of 2010, my junior year of high school, I had the idea to bring six-man football to Maryland. The state has many small private schools without football, including the one my mother worked at. I played 11-man football at a much larger private school and wanted the students at these small...

1,740 schools in 38 states playing 6/8/9-man football

I went through the MaxPreps listing of teams to compile these numbers so they may be slightly off but I thought it was interesting that the number of schools playing 6/8/9-man football is now greater than 10% of the number of schools playing 11-man football (14,415). By state: Alabama- 8 6-man...

    New York adding 8-man football

New York 8-man league has grown from 7 teams in year 1 to 29 teams in year 2. Virginia added 8-man this year as well, starting with 7 teams. NEPSAC is up to 6 teams in their 8-man league. 1 in NH, 1 in NY, 1 in PA and 3 in CT. Nice to see the game growing in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3Y0RAGVOhs A clip with some six-man action as Lawrenceville celebrated 125 years of house football in 2016. 6 Lawrenceville houses field six-man teams that play a 5 game season for intra-scholastic bragging rights.

Six Man Football Added in the Unlikeliest of Places

Lawrenceville School, a $54,000+ a year private boarding school in New Jersey, has adopted six-man football as the official format of its house football league. The house teams are fielded in addition to the schools' eleven-man varsity team. They are essentially intramural teams made up of...

    Maryland's 1st Six-Man Game (1935)

I've come across information that places the first six-man football game in Maryland as among the earliest in the nation. Boys' Latin School of Maryland and Franklin Day School played a six-man demonstration game at halftime of the varsity eleven-man game between the two schools in the fall of...

    Crabcakes vs. Cowboys

I tend to agree. There's a reason most Maryland schools avoid them. ECA just added DeSoto for Week 3. 3 straight weeks in Texas against schools with 50-100x their enrollment (ECA has between 50-100 students). Talk about travel, look at these road trips: @ Spartanburg (SC)- 561 mi @ Euless...

    Crabcakes vs. Cowboys

America's "virtural" high school football powerhouse, Eastern Christian Academy from Elkton, MD (sort of) will be journeying down to Texas for two (maybe three) games against some 6A Texas powerhouses. ECA will play Euless Trinity in Week 1 and Coppell in Week 3 and is in talks to add Allen or...

    6 man History

The league in Florida switched from six-man to seven-man in 2012. They've got about 25 schools. I think they're the only ones.
