Grady by 26 now. As for grimes, if he wants to play with that crowd, he is going to pay.
Judgement from afar and the from the unknowing once again. Passing judgement without all the facts seems a little disingenuous and self righteous to me. Yes he has pled guilty.

Do you know what the circumstances of the plea were ? Doesn't appear he is being charged with possession, selling or conspiring.

I wonder what any man would do faced with the delimma of stepping in and basically turning on family. This is a situation I don't think anyone who hasn't been there can say with absolute certainty what he would do.

I am not defending Coach Grimes per se. I do not know the situation either - but I will also not pass judgement or form an opinion until the facts are brought to light.

By his own admission he has done wrong … he will pay the penalty. That judgement and punishment will be determined by those who do know.

For all of you folks that have been keeping up with the Calvert mess. (grimes) Go check out KWTX.COM.

Pled guilty to knowing about but not reporting illegal activity. With his brother involved, that's got to be a hell of a rough spot to be in.

A misprision is the catch all that they can use to coerce someone to testify against their will. Sad to see it used this way.

This is the result of the utter failure of the 30 year War on Drugs. DEA won't stop, or even try to interdict international drug smuggling rings. Instead, they pick on the low hanging fruit of otherwise law-abiding citizens. The BATF let guns walk across to Mexico, resulting in the deaf of two border patrol agents.

I have no problem with the DEA, ATF, or what ever other alphabet soup Federal agency wants to turn it's guns outward to stop drug trafficking. I do, however have a ginormous freaking problem when public servant's are given the right to turn their sights inward.

Did the Calvert coach profit from his alleged crime? Should his actions, or lack thereof, be considered criminal? We have the HSA strip searching your grandmother, Schools suspending your children for bringing a butter knife to school, and the local football coach facing felony jail time because he didn't rat out his own brother. Oh, and if your daughter defaults on her student loans? The Dept of Ed has their own swat teams to help make sure little Suzy pays.

This is not an America I want to claim ownership of. Nor should anyone else.

What the hell have we become? We can and should do better.

everyone is someones brother or maybe not, makes me wonder about people he is guilty or he is not guilty i dont care who he is kin to... most of the deals that are cut with a DA are so the guilty get a lessor penalty, and it is reduced to a lessor crime . so who knows one thing we do know he is guilty by his own admission.
that is if the media got it right and more times than not they get it wrong

Rainman, you're totally correct on the ineptitude and malfeasance of our federal government. They'd much rather gain power over us and take minute control over our everyday lives. The enforcement of borders means absolutely nothing to them.

That being said, if the reports I'm reading are right, he knew he was letting those guys in his brothers house to remove drugs so to hide evidence. That should be punished. This isn't a case of just not noticing what is right in front of your face.
If the news reports are right is a big deal here. God knows they'll lie for political purposes. Probably not above lying to get even with an old rival high school either.

mountaineers are still in this hopefully them boys worked way to hard this year to just stay home home 9-1....I really hope ROCHELLE whoops Zephyr tonight 45 em boys

I can’t go into specifics but early this year I was selected for federal jury duty for a federal drug case in the area. Bad brother was growing drugs in two grow houses in area. His good brother had knowledge of it but was not part of the operation. Prosecutors had wire taps and collected phone conversations for about two months on several phones. They indicted about 10 people and had already had trials and convicted all of them (we find out late in trial). They were trying to include good brother in party based on twenty something recorded phone calls. I learned more about the drug trade that I care to know but the bottom line is that knowledge of an operation is not enough to convict. There would have to be some level of participation for a conviction. Bad brother called his good brother one night that he was stopped for speeding and needed bail money. Brother bailed him out and probably did not get all of his money back. Bad brother occasionally needed money to pay rent and buy food for wife and kids, good brother helped out, good brother did not get all of money back. Bad brother had car with “secret compartment” for drug smuggling. Sometimes they rode around in it around town. Good brother would visit bad brother at his house. No evidence he ever visited grow houses. We listened to twenty taped conversations and prosecutor said it proved conspiracy and intent. When bad brother sold car, good brother said he should have sold for more due to the secret compartment. Brothers used drugs together. Good brother had 100K job and did not ever transport, loan money for drug deals or approve of bad brother conduct. Prosecutor put bad brother on witness stand and asked several leading questions on activities, conduct and using drugs together. Bad brother told his version of what happened. During deliberations we voted on several items. I had us go back out to jury box, based on judges instructions and listen to three tapes again based on these discussions. We cleared those questions and voted on remaining items and finished 75 minutes after we stared deliberating and cleared good brother on all charges.

Knowledge of a criminal activity does not necessarily mean conspiracy and intent. It does not take much to cross the line though. Something as simple as saying on a phone that you’re going to assist in moving something and then not doing it can classify as intent. Giving somebody money that you know will probably be used for criminal activity can classify as conspiracy. The lines can be razor thin. If the coach is innocent I hope he gets a good lawyer and clears his name. If he’s guilty I hope he does his time.

Doing something wrong is not always doing something criminal. i doubt I will ever take the prosecution's side of a BS accessory to conspire to distribute drugs charge. But this is the fed's bread and butter.

Was it a smart thing for Grimes to do? I think the answer to that is obvious. Should it be a federal crime? Not even a little bit.

How many people are going to stop using drugs as a result of charging this coach? None. Not a single person. He never purchased, stored, or distributed anything.
