Wink JV?

Wink swears up and down it will drop football before going sixman. Back in the day, their numbers for their JV got too low to play 11 man and Sanderson JV played them twice. They had two coaches then who had played sixman at Marathon. Now days not sure, but bet they are saying they will drop before sixman.

I talked to their football coach last year at one of our basketball games and he said the school board had already started the discussions with the administration and coaching staff. He said the next realignment they would be well below the number and were going to struggle fielding a competitive 11 man team. Its just a matter of time.

Wink, as of right now, is not close to going below 100 again (of course, everyone knows how the oil field can be). They scheduled this game because Plains doesn't have a JV and Wink wasn't actually sure if they would have enough for a full-squad 11-man JV....so they set this game up, just to get some playing in.

If Wink were to start playing sixman, it would be a very expensive move.....they just installed field turf (along with a jumbotron scoreboard, which has nothing to do with it, but it is cool a small school has one). They would have to rip up the turf and install an 80-yd field, if they were to go sixman.....I really don't see Wink playing sixman football anytime soon.

There is an article in today's Odessa paper explaining the Sanderson match-up.

Seems I heard that about Nazareth a few years back.

Like they teach us in the church skools (a little Goob lingo there), pride goeth before the fall.

True, oneday....it could happen if the oil boom dies out.

That number of 102 was taken last October. They have quite a bit more than that now. I think they may be close to 120. My younger brother coaches there, and although he didn't give me an exact figure, he said there were a lot of move-ins since last Christmas.
