Position Title: Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach

2018-2019 school year, Seasonal position-Stipend pay (could be attached to FT employment in the future)

Reports to: Director of Athletics; also to Secondary Principal if classroom teacher

Summary: Wichita Christian seeks an outstanding Head Coach. Responsibilities are to oversee the development of the entire girls’ basketball program 6th-12th. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years as a Head Coach in a Christian school setting, but this is not a requirement for the position. Person who accepts this position must be willing to share student-athletes with other sports such as cross country and volleyball. Experience in coaching other sports may create the opportunity for additional coaching assignment(s).

Qualifications:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in coaching or related field
• IF considered for a teaching position, MUST be certified or have a minimum of 18 hours in subject area.
• Have prior experience in coaching and or collegiate playing experience.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills

Job Description:
• Understands and embraces Christian education and holds a biblical perspective on athletics.
• Is committed to mentoring and possesses the ability to mentor student-athletes in their Christian faith, athletic skills, and life skills.
• Develop an off-season program, camps and clinics to promote the sport within the school and surrounding community.
• Participate in professional development activities and attend clinics assigned by the AD.
• Exemplify a sense of professionalism at all times which includes game and practice times, with opponents, parents, faculty, staff and administration.
• Establish positive relationships with coaches, athletes, parents and faculty members.
• Know all TAPPS policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
• Embrace the core mission/vision of Wichita Christian School.
• Agree and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith.
• Stress academic achievement with our athletes at every opportunity.
• Attend all required meetings or events for TAPPS and the WCS athletic department.
• Work with the Athletic Department in developing of scheduling, maintaining an inventory of equipment.
• Put together both short- and long-term plans for the program’s growth.
• Report scores to Times Record News, TAPPS, and WCS administrative team.
• Actively foster the development and enhancement of qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, loyalty and commitment.
• Remain aware of all legal liabilities related to all athletic activities and ensure a safe environment for all athletes.
• Assume any other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and Secondary Principal or Superintendent.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Ability to perform duties in a gym environment
• Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead
• Ability to function in a work environment with a moderate noise level
