I can remember sitting in several years of District Presidents meetings during the TAPPS annual meetings in San Antonio.

Every year, the question of having "true regionals" (ala UIL, on a geographic basis) vs. separating the #1 and #2 team in each district so that they cannot have a rematch until the state finals is brought up.

Lifegate, you bring up a great point...one that I did not consider in the District Presidents meeting this June. TAPPS did exactly what we told them to in that meeting with the "true regionals" pairing. Essentially, we have created a travel situation that does not suit the small school's well. While our school was blessed to have a charter bus for our trip to Amarillo, most schools could not have this luxury. That is something I will now be considering next June at the State meeting...That is not to say that my kids, parents, and coaching staff (all both of us!) did not just have a great 7 hour trip to Amarillo, but I can tell you that I can not imagine driving all that way at the wheel of a Blue Bird yellow bus.

It was a pleasure coaching against you. Your team played with great sportsmanship and I greatly enjoyed speaking with you before and after the game. Can't wait to play ya'll again next year if the opportunity arises!

They feeling is mutual Coach Sanders. Have any room in non-district to meet halfway next season? Maybe Wichita Falls? My kids have been talking all day about how much fun it was playing against your team. #32 was in awe that every time he stepped on the field that they knew exactly where he was at. I think I'll remember to bring a composite ball the next go around! Maybe we won't commit 8 turnovers (and pick up the 5 fumbles the other way) and give you a better game! Not to mention our fans may know to let you knee out the game :) Your team is a really good bunch of kids and that is a great reflection on the values you have instilled in them as a coach. I really enjoyed talking to all your kids, but especially Montana after the game...what an amazing young man! I wish him and the rest of your boys the best.

Good luck next week v Christway...should be a great one! You'll find that they too are a great bunch of kids with a very good coach.

We'll see about next year...and yes, we made sure our defense keyed on Adam Gilbreath (that youtube video had some of my boys kind of nervous there for a bit so they made sure to let everyone know EXACTLY where he was at all times). Thank you for all of the nice compliments.
