Week three comments

Six-man expert
I left Strawn with Borden county up 24-6 over Calvert at the end of the first. Kind of surprised there was not a final posted as I post this. Maybe I shouldn't have left.
Fort Worth THESA was bigger and faster than I expected. They led early and kept Strawn within 2 to 3 scores most of the game. I thought the Hounds might pull away in the third but their only Sr starter, the QB/upback went out limping. Sure hope he's alright. They stumbled for a couple of series but managed to score 2 or 3 more times.
I am an idiot. I just read the Calvert BC final. I walked out on one helluva game. BC was executing, slicing and dicing. Calvert seemed rattled. My butt was sore from the bleachers while watching the Strawn game. I was ready to get the drive home over with. Damn.

I can only hope the Hound players stuck around and learned from this. That this is the level they are seeking to play at and anything is possible in 6-man, never give up. It was gratifying as I Ileft to see THESA players setting with Strawn students watching the game. It gave me the impression they enjoyed the small town experience. Probably just hittin on the cheerleaders.

Shoulda stayed dude, shoulda stayed!

Still kickin my own butt for not. Glad I can do that literally with either foot as I turn 60 next month).
I was surprised by the attendance for BC given the distance on a Friday night game. They travel well with the buss and the cool custom Coyote blow up run through thing.
I was also surprised by the lack of Purple or Black support for Calvert. Not much of either and they are much closer. ONE lady behind me was quite vocal, in support, not critically. I imagine she went ballistic after I left and left herself in a state of euphoria.

May 61, Throck 42, not a 45 ing but encouraging for both teams?
Aquilla 68, Mount Calm 40, an upset? A happy Cowboy again?
Jonesboro 69, Avalon 41,they didn't 45 Avalon ?

Yes sirree, you and everyone else should have stayed. The game really began after halftime, actually in the fourth quarter. First half was almost a 45er. Pretty dull display of a team of men against a bunch of new kids on the block.

It was obvious BCs many injuries and severe leg craps allowed the Trojans to crawl back into the game. It wasn't much to do with what Calvert was doing, but all about BCs loss of several critical players who were missing or hampered with cramps. It felt like they were losing a player every series in the second half.

The first half was an accurate display of team strengths. BC appeared unstoppable in their spread offense against Calvert's anemic Spread defense. The Coyote spread reminded me of the great Fort Hancock spread the way they used motion-blocking to get to the edges any time they wanted it.
And defensively the Coyotes were chewing up the vaunted Trojan Spreadback Jaquan Thompson.

By the fourth quarter it looked like a skeleton crew was all that remained for the coyotes. Attrition had decimated them.
But that said, it was an amazing endgame. Calvert's pawns found a way to checkmate.

The first quarter BC was blitzing 3 at times. They had Thompson contained. I guess Calvert learned how to block in the second half. Kudos to Coach Cherry what ever he said at half time.

Mullin won by 45. Kudo's to them too. It was the cheer leaders who spurred them on Mrs. Nelson.
Hey Black Gold, Union Hill won, by 45.
So did Penlope Coach P! Dreams Die Hard !!!
