Week 6 Player of the Week
Landon Boling – Azle Christian – 29-39-0 for 703 yards, 12 TDs passing; 3-50 yards rushing; 753 total yards of offense; 12 tackles, 1 INT
Azle Christian beat Heritage Christian 112-88 and it goes without saying that in a game where 200 points were scores there is going to be some gaudy stats. Well Azle Christian QB Landon Boling put up a whopping 703 yards and connected with receivers for 12 touchdown passes, setting single game marks in six-man football in both categories for this season.
Honorable Mentions:
Cesar Chavez – Garden City – 25 tackles; 8-15 for 98 yards 1 TD passing; 6-13 yards, 2 TDs rushing; 2-38 yards, 1 TD receiving
Chavez played a big role in the Beakats take down of highly ranked DII Strawn last week 34-23. Chavez had a hand in four of his teams five touchdowns as he scored 3 and threw for another. He also led his team in tackles logging 20 on the night as the Bearkats D stood strong against the Strawn offense.
Devin Williams – Zephyr – 7-223 yards, 4 TDs rushing; 4-6 for 56 yards, 1 TD passing; 4-87 yards, 2 TDs receiving; 6/8 PATs; 11 tackles, 1 fumble recovery
Williams had another big night for the bulldogs as the downed Gordon 84-62. He was a one man wrecking crew all over the field, throwing, running, and catching the ball…and on defense and in the special teams game as well as he scored 48 points.
Keelon Caffey – Union Hill – 28-435 yards, 6 TDs rushing; 7/10 for 114 yards, 5 TDs passing; 5 tackles
Union Hill dominated Oakwood 84-36 ending the game in the 4th quarter via the mercy rule and Caffey’s 549 total yards of offense played a major part in that.
JD Brice – Newcastle – 116 yards, 4 TDs rushing; 117 yards, 2 TDs passing; 2 INTs on defense both returned for TDs
Newcastle beat May 70-49 in a big upset win for the Bobcats over the Tigers. JD Brice has a big game as he helped account for six touchdowns on offense and then picked off two passes on defense and returned them both back for huge pick sixes.
Cruz Flores – Cranfills Gap – 15-232 yards, 4 TDs;8-156 yards, 2 TDs receiving; 7 tackles
Cranfills Gap crushed Bluff Dale 62-12 and Flores scored six touchdowns and went over 300 yards of total offense for the Lions in the win.
Ian Markum – Oglesby – 5/10 for 167 yards, 3 TDs passing; 5-94 yards, 2 TDs rushing; 4/5 PATs
Oglesby gets their first win of the season defeating Prairie Lea 56-6. QB Ian Markum scored 24 points and threw for 18 more in the win. Nick Norrell caught two of those passes netting 85 yards and scoring both times.
Jordan Rodriguez – Grady – 29-318 yards, 7 TDs rushing; 4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery
A big night on the ground for Rodriguez, who went over 300 yards and scored seven TDs, and Grady as the beat Robert Lee 62-52
