Water Valley vs. May

WV Backer

Six-man pro
The WV hits the road this week to take on last year's championship game runner-up, May. These two teams have never met on the gridiron. May is coming off a 20 point loss on the road to a very tough Throckmorton squad while the Wildcats hung on to take a character building 58 -56 victory over a game and determined Grady team at home. Despite the win, the WV dropped two spots from #9 to #11 in the polls as "the toy" had to make room for Sterling City and Ropes. I could make a comment here about Sterling City's schedule of D-II and creampuff teams thus far (not counting Garden City) but I'll leave that for later and concentrate on the WV vs. May match-up. Besides, we'll find out just how good they are on the last Friday in October.

Who will win this battle of Tigers vs. Wildcats? Another long drive for Water Valley, will it be worth it? The toy has us favored by 25 but we all know that doesn't mean anything. We were favored by 45+ over Anton and we barely got out of there with our lives. Will the WV continue to build momentum? Will Zuniga and Counts be able to go? Is anyone making the 136 mile journey up to May on Friday night? Let's hear it Wildcat fans (and even you non-Wildcat fans).

I believe Water Valley will pull out a win against May. With Devan Glass returning to the field the wildcat team is more powerful on both sides of the ball. Looking forward to this matchup.

Glass was certainly a difference maker against Grady. I'd heard he was going to be back but I didn't think he would be as effective as he turned out to be... at least not right away. I figured he would have to work into it a bit. Let's hope he can keep it up.

Hey Backer... looks like "the toy" updated the week six rankings... WV now at the #7 spot. Don't mean a lot, but the bump upwards doesn't hurt my feelers any!

GO WILDCATS!!!

You're right about the rankings not meaning anything but I think it still needs some tweaking. It has the WV at #7 and Knox City at #8 and we both know how that played out. Not to mention it has Sterling City at #6 when they've beaten Zephyr, Blackwell, Paint Rock, Sands and Garden City. GC is tough and kudos to the Eagles on that win but the rest of them have a combined record of 4 - 15. Two of them are D-II schools (Blackwell and Sands). Of course, you can only beat the teams on your schedule but personally I'm glad the WV scheduled the teams they did. At least we know where we stand.

I know what you mean. I think it could just have easily been the other way around; two very evenly matched teams. As far as the rankings, who's to say. Like the guru says, they're really just for conversation and in the end they don't mean a hill of beans. We gripe and howl about 'em but you still have to make the playoffs to have a successful season. I think Grady will finish runner-up in District 4 and win their first round playoff game. After that it gets a little dicey if they run into Happy. Good luck the rest of the way.

I bet this game will be the must see game of the week
I agree that it will be a good one, but I pick Aquilla/Abbott to be the game of the week.

Hopefully I will be at the one no one expected to become a dog fight.
