Vicente "Cheetah" Ramirez, Ft Hancock Great, Passes Away

Leman Saunders

Six-man expert
I learned some sad news today. Vicente "Cheetah" Ramirez, one of the legends of Texas 6-man football and member of the storied Fort Hancock football teams of the 1980s and 1990s, passed away last night in his sleep.

Details about arrangements are being made and I will share those once they are made available to me.

Ramirez played for Fort Hancock from 1989-92, and was an integral part of "The Fort's" three state titles (89, 90, 91) and state runner-up (92) during that time frame. He rushed for over 7,700 yards and at least 116 TDs, passed for over 1,700 yards and 51 TDs, scored over 140 total TDs, and had over 10,000 yards of total offense earning him 1st team all-state on the offensive side three straight years (90-92).

Rest In Peace my friend, Coach Medina. Will miss talking to you at every football game, basketball game, and baseball game.

Here are the service details
