UIL time rules

My son was in his first track meet last week. The UIL has put in time limits on when a meet can start and end since I was in school. That was a long time ago though.
I love track and it was fun watching the kids compete. The only problem I had was that they could not start the meet until late afternoon. That being done, there was no time for prelims. and finals. All finals. That took alot of the excitement out, I thought.
When did this rule take place, and does anyone else feel this way?

This has been effect for a long time. People were concerned about kids missing school, thus junior high is not supposed to start till every school is out. High School can have one meet that begins early during week and I think district for high school can start before school is out.

If you are ticked at this then look up the limits on golf, tennis, etc., that ought to set your teapot to whistling. Ha
