Six-man pro
I was at the HEB in New Braunfels yesterday and found this in the freebie magazine rack ... "Championship Edition" of Texas HS Football magazine. Not the Dave Campbell publication, but published by an operation out of Buda. They recognize all the UIL and TAPPS state football champions (crowded field [aka 11-man] and 6-man).
Anyway, Grayson Rigdon is the cover of the magazine and there's a pretty nice one-page article on his exploits, including pretty good coverage of his three UIL six-man titles at Strawn and Benjamin (45-0 record) as well as leading Columbus to the 3AD1 state title with a 15-1 record (the only loss a one-point OT loss where Grayson was injured most of the game).
There's a 12-man Fan Vote UIL 6-man players of the year, with young men from Buena Vista, Chester, Gordon, Happy, Water Valley, Burkeville, Avalon and May recognized.
Two-page spreads recognize the two UIL state champions, Gordon and Jayton.
The three TAPPS champuons each have a page; Pasadena First Baptist, Fort Worth Covenant Christian, and Wichita Falls Wichita Christian.
Jayton coach Josh Stanaland gets a nice interview as welll (only coach interview article in the mag); he talks about coaching against his brother, John at Raton and Valley and how John joined his staff this season.
I'm not sure how wide the free distribution is on the magazine, but you can find the link below to order. I think if you order a magazine on line, it costs something like $21.30 (after shipping and sales tax), but they do offer bulk orders up to 45 copies for $400.
