Hey Everyone,
I am currently living in Alaska. I graduated High School in 2003 from Guthrie and I am wanting to return to West Texas to teach/coach.
My professional experience is mostly in military, law enforcement, and government services. I have been a football referee (11, 9 man) for 10 years, was a basketball referee for 9 years, have been substituting, and coaching basketball.
I am currently finishing a program through iTeach to become certified as a teacher. Here in Alaska you do not have to teach or be employed by the district to coach so I have been getting experience as an assistant coach and was able to head coach for a year at a private school for a season when they couldn’t find a permanent hire.
It looks like I will be completing my content exam in Social Studies 7-12 and plan on completing History 7-12 when the opportunity arises.
My certification program should be completed by June and I am hoping to find a school willing to hire me under a SOE.
I am opened to assistant coach as well as head coach if I can find a good fit. Football, Basketball, and Track & Field. (Combination/Variety of)
Any advice or resources on how to find opened positions would be appreciated.
