Strawn vs Gordon 9/28/12

I have read the post about how can Gordon beat Strawn if they couldn't beat Ira and Stephenville Faith! Okay 2 starters out; big deal. Who has Strawn played that had the quality of Ira or Stephenville Faith? which are both top notch teams! I believe it will be a battle from my research of past games. Good Luck to all but I like cattle more than dogs!

"Crazy Well" ? I don't think either team would want the rivalry tainted by mention of Mineral Wells. haha

I am sticking with "The Battle of Palo Pinto Creek" until I hear something better. The creek separates the two towns and actually runs near both.

Why just go for the creek? reach for the stars and take the whole COUNTY!!

Battle for Palo Pinto County!!

:)

True, although "The Battle of Palo Pinto Creek" sounds more like an Indian battle... which to me makes it sound slightly more violent. haha

Cameron vs. Rockdale - battle of the bell

Mayhem at Mingus

I think we should build a field in Mingus (one game only played on this field per year)

Mayhem In Mingus it should be.
No home field advantage. And the bars are right there after the games...

Name for it:

Braggin' Rights? That is pretty much true for it.

I encourage everyone to go to this game but for those that do not want to fight the crowd I will be doing the game here at the church in Mingus. It will be the live audio broadcast done by microplexnews.com. I am going to hook it up to some big speakers, will have the popcorn machine going and have plenty of drinks for everyone...no alcohol, sorry. LOL

The website if you want to listen to the game is:

Who is going to win? This game is rarely decided until the final whistle and it does not matter who the stronger team is, it boils down to who wants it the most. I wish both teams the best of luck and I just pray that no one gets hurt.

I think back to a few years ago when they played at Gordon. Gordon won by 30 I believe. They met int he playoffs and Strawn answered by winning it by 31. Strawn went on to win state that year being named the best team in 6-Man football in Texas/USA/WORLD!!!! Look back at it, Gordon ended up ranked #2 in all of the above. It was the best combined year these two teams have ever had. What could be better? Both of them state champs in their divisions. LOL

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I plan on telling some stories on here tomorrow night about the 80s when i went to school at Gordon and what happened in this game.

Looking at the weather forecast, maybe we should just call it the mud bowl.

Long as it's not a driving rain or real cold I liked playing in the mud. In a defensive struggle Strawn wins 6-4.

Wow, what a game. Here is a recap of the last play. 4th and 3 from their own 19, 11 seconds on the clock. Gordon lines up in spread formation, looked like a punt option formation. Deep snap is high, Cherry gets a fingertip on it, otherwise it's probably going out the back of the endzone for a safety and a tie ball game. Cherry tried to pick it up in the endzone, but I think he either kicked it or it flew out of his hands. Lopez picks it up right before it goes out of bounds about 3 yards deep and gets hit by a greyhound. Somehow manages to find his way out of the endzone out to the 5 and gets tackled. Everybody in the entire stadiums head immediately turned to the clock simultaneously to find that the clock had expired. End of game. Not sure how much before he went down the clock had expired, because for some reason, the horn quit working. Probably filled with water. But it couldn't have been but a second or two. Great job to both teams on a hard fought game. Congrats HORNS!
