State Championship Run - TAPPS Div. III

I would agree, Freddy and brazosport are the best teams in the south. It’s too bad that isn’t the semis match up. Waco valor came out and won big against kingdom prep. I would have thought it would have been a bit closer.
I think Round 2 will tell us a lot about Valor. If they roll, I can't see Lubbock Christ the King putting up much of a fight in the Semi's.

They only beat San Jac by 4 in district who got handled in Round 1.

No to Greenville as well.

I failed to mention previously for the Valor game I saw...KPA had three captains and two of them were in street clothes. Im not sure how much difference that made, but worth noting.

KPA is a solid program and was sad to see them put out by valor. They had some injuries that prevented them from playing like they usually do. Today’s match up between CTK and Azle will be exciting but I have CTK pushing through.

Lake Jackson and hill country was a better game than expected. I truly thought Lake Jackson was going to win by a large margin. I mean most of the game lake Jackson was able to do what they wanted. Just wonder why they waited till the last 2 mins to start playing. Also some really bad play calling on San Marcos side of the ball. But the state game will be a good one. Hoping to make it.

I completely disagree with you as would most who were at that game. Lake Jackson was behind that entire game and was completely shut down offensively from the second quarter until the last 49 seconds of the game. Hill Country led 24-20 at half and 32-20 with 49 seconds to go in the 4th. It looked to me that a young team, composed mostly of sophomores and freshmen, ran out of gas for the season after playing a grueling 13 game schedule. They had the ball on the 1 yard line to score again with under two minutes that would have put the game away for sure, but had an interception that changed the shape of the game. With 49 seconds and no timeouts left, Brazosport was able to get into the end zone with 20 seconds left and then recovered the onside kick. Hill Country got the ball back with 10 seconds left, now down 36-32 and 2 timeouts left in the game. scrambling as the clock ran down, their QB threw a pick 6 making it a 10 pt game as time expired. Anyone that was at that game knew that the Rams had that game in the bag until a crazy series of events happened with 49 seconds to go. Anyone that says otherwise either didn't watch the game or is simply a hater.

Based on your comment history and your constant negative comments about Hill Country from this and previous posts, I'm gonna call the latter...either that, or you're no "six man coach", cuz you definitely don't know ball...

lol I was at that game. I’ve been at every hill country game. But u are correct about one thing. I’m not a six man coach. But I’m gonna guess from ur comment, that ur either an upset parent or coach from that school. Lol and you would be saying grueling schedule, lol played an unhealthy castle hills team, an un healthy Freddy team, an unhealthy midland team. An unhealthy belleville team, and finally got to play a healthy team and couldn’t finish. Lake Jackson was better coached, and had a better mental game. Is hill country a good team, absolutely, and with a team of sophomores, they will be back better next year. And will be looking to make a run at state.

LOL!!! I won't continue with this back and forth, but again, you're making way too many assumptions that it's clear you know nothing about. I'm neither a parent, nor a coach, but definitely a fan. As for your "unhealthy" remarks, I suggest you go back and take a look at the teams and who played. The only team HCCS played this year that was missing starters was Freddy, and only 2 starters were out. Your earlier comments about "one on field in a cast" is completely incorrect. The player in question was Coach Shipman's son and he put the protective "club" on his right hand when he played defense. Please note, the "cast" was completely off during their time on offense and he had no problem throwing the ball. Of the two starters missing during that game, only one was an impact player, iykyk. Castle Hills, Midland, Bellville, were all healthy and not missing ANY of their impact players.

I'm certain any of the opposing coaches they defeated and lost to this year would not make the same excuses. Did the Rams have players out for games they lost this year, absolutely, but you'll not hear any excuses for those losses or their performance. They beat themselves in 2 of the 3 games they lost and the first one was the first game of the season. I'm happy to concede their losses, but to imply, as you did, that this team was neither worthy nor up to the task is a bad look for you, sir.

I'm not upset at all to be honest, I just call a spade a spade. And, when I see what is obvious subjective bias, I'm happy to call it out.

In reference to my comment of you being a "hater", please understand, I'm not referring to this thread alone. I noted you created your account in August this year, and literally every single comment you've made all year have in some way been negative toward the Hill Country team. I don't have to be a coach, parent, or even a fan to note the hate and I'm certain everyone else reading these is aware as well. God bless you sir.

I will say castle hills was far from healthy when we played San Marcos, they’re great team and played us very well, but we were missing 4 starters going into the game and lost a 5th during the game. Not saying the game would’ve been different, just would like to clarify that we were far from healthy.

I appreciate the clarity Coach, and can definitely admit when I'm wrong. Out of curiosity, were y'all equally depleted when you played Fredericksburg 2 wks before? Just trying to understand the level of the playing field in order to compare the two games.

I remember the injury during the game, it was pretty rough. I'm hoping the young man has recovered well?

We were fully healthy when we played Freddy in week 2. The player who broke his wrist has recovered well and played with a cast on during our last playoff game, although it took a long time to recover. Thanks for the continued support of him!
