STARTING THE SEASON WITH A LOSS

How many teams have lost, only to rebound and go to the playoffs after a loss in the first few games of the preseason? Im talking about a long run in the playoffs.

Milford and Abbott certainly did last year

When I coached at Jayton we started off the season my first year 1-4 and made it to the semifinals with a final record of 9-5.

Grandfalls did last year. Lost first game of the year and rattled 14 straight wins off.

Grady did it two years ago..Lost first two games to Ropes and Ira. Made 2nd round of playoffs beating Ropes in the rematch in bi-district. Lost to Petersburg by 10 in the second round.

Garden City did it in 2009. Lost to Calvert at Hico and then won 14 straight to take state in D1 that year.

Richland Springs (1999) was 3-2 after loosing to Blanket in game 2 and Strawn in game 5. They then beat Blanket 52-6 in bi-district and lost in the semifinals to state champion Gordon ending the season at 10-4. However RS did win the first game of that season. Info from lonestarfootball.net

Then won 4 before losing to RS to be 4-3
Won the next 6 in a row and made it to the semi-finals where they missed going to the state game by 14 points to Abbott. finished 10-4
