Six Man Broadcasts have been dropped"

Is it just me but there seems to be a large drop off in the number of broadcasts on our favorite six man football teams this season, both in video and radio coverage? I know Strawn lost their Microplex connection but other schools seem to have lost their coverage too. What gives?

I was just thinking the same thing. I watch very little TV but enjoy any 6 man game I could watch.

There’s drastically less games on NFHS, and the ones they say should be there many times don’t work! I cancelled mine because of it. I know UIL stopped a bunch of the streams because they couldn’t make their $ and the fee they charge is not cheap at all to get permission to do live video

Actually seen this on Facebook, and it’s not just a 1A issue, it’s affecting the other classifications.
My opinion is that the UIL is overstepping their bounds on this, they get enough money from the schools as it is, the rights and what streaming services used should be entirely up to the schools.

I'm not sure its the same in football but UIL no longer gets money from basketball playoff games so I'm not sure why they care about streaming unless NFHS is just throwing a ton of money at them so the playoffs have to be done through them.

We've never been denied when requesting streaming rights, using NFHS, when we host playoff basketball games. The problem is, so many people are making the switch to Hudl and the Hudlfan service that it's creating an issue if those stadiums don't have the capability to go through NFHS.

Totally agree!! The charges per game are insane.

Yes, it is $500 per game, in the playoffs to stream video independently. The UIL, NFHS and Dave Campbell's (who, if you ask me, doesn't pay enough attention to sixman) all have a stronghold on the school's broadcast rights.

The other option is to partner with Dave Campbell and NFHS and have everyone pay the subscription to watch. We like making it available to everyone for free, so I really hate that idea. Plus, the stream only works half the time, apparently.

I could be wrong, but I thought the UIL even made it harder to nearly Impossible for student run media groups to broadcast and stream playoffs.

However, before COVID, no one could stream live video on any Friday games at all, regular season included. But I still think it should be up to the schools.

I think Greg Tepper genuinely cares about Six man football. I would think that DCTF as a whole makes their money off the larger classification and larger metro areas (Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc...) hence you have to cater to tour audience. I bet if we asked him he'd love to do more, like when DCTF and their crew went to Bluff Dale a few years ago, but you have to go where you're making the bang for your buck.
