Services for Don Hardin

The 300 seat chapel was Full. Cowboy got a little choked up a couple of times but did a commendable job. When he was done Don's wife stood up to greet him with a hug as came down the steps from the podium then turned to the congregation and said "I've never met this man before", which resulted in a huge laugh from all of us. So many stories of his kindness and competitiveness from several friends an family. It truly felt more like a celebration of life. In spite of their pre service statement "instead of flowers" there were quite alot which his daughter told me a large portion of were from Different ISD's around the state. She said they were I think amazed or overwhelmed with these and they were greatly appreciated.
One of my favorite stories was by his brother or maybe a lifelong friend who said "nobody here probably knows what knee football is but....". I almost raised my hand and blurted out I Do! I remember moving the coffee table out of the living room (when my friends mother was not at home) to play.

Sounds a lot like the old Irish wakes my dear sainted Irish momma would tell me about. Except for the part a loved one died, they were one heck of a celebration ...

Also mentioned were a park bench in Hico under the tree, the scholarship IS happening and DEFENSE.
A word that popped up repeatedly was Ambassador (of sixman).
