Saint Jo

Are they the dark horse this year? Undefeated, new coach, players buying in. Just 45d Bryson! Seems like a perfect storm for years to come.

I think the Panthers are the real deal. I feel like the perfect storm is brewing here. We are very well coached, have good speed on both sides of the ball, a strong and great blocking front, a fundamentally sound defense, and like you said, everyone has bought in and believes. Also, the young group that is coming up behind the upperclassmen are falling right in line as well. It is a very exciting time to be a Saint Jo Panther.

Holding a team like Bryson to only 8 points and ending the game at 8:52 in the 3rd was a statement. If we continue to play like that, the coming weeks will be a fun watch.

*Agreed, what's the main competitor in the east? How many rounds do you think Saint Jo goes? East is pretty much open minus Milford.

They finally made a big move in the rankings. It was hard to tell how good they really were as they had not played a team in the top-100 yet. It will certainly be exciting to see where they go over the next part of the season.

We have to take care of business and play like we did against Bryson. We went 8-2 last year and sat at home and watched the playoffs. Lost to Savoy by 5 on a hook and ladder as time expired, and lost by 12 to district champ Newcastle. If we play like I know we are capable of, we can win District 9. However, anything can happen and that's why we play the games.

Gilmer Union Hill and Avalon look pretty salty in the East. Blum could also make some noise. I am a member of Pigskin Prep and they have a "How would they Finish" page. They have us losing to Avalon by 7 in the second round. If we got past Avalon, we would be 20pt dogs to Gilmer Union Hill in the Quarters. They have Gilmer Union Hill beating Milford and Blum.

I have been a member over there for a long time, and I feel like their power ratings formula is pretty good. It seems to be closer to the "truth" a lot of the times. They were the only one I could find that had us as favorites over Bryson. They had us as 15pt favorites. They actually give the predicted scores and predicted 34-19.

Blum wins the east they are the best team out there
You are correct, Blum is hands down best team in the East right now. They have the speed to contain Milford and block to well. Blum stays healthy you will see them in December. Teams with slight chance are. Union Hill, May, and Jonesboro.
Good Lick to all

Just revisiting this post after a month of football has been played. Doesn't look like anyone outside of the Saint Jo faithful are giving us much of a shot. After seeing us come together over the last month, I really feel good about our chances. Should be a very good game. I can't wait to see it.

I dont know much about the East but I can definitely see St. Jo pulling off the upset this week. If you look at the schedules from the East, you can find some common opponents from the other teams that are in the playoffs. I'm going with St. Jo to pull off the W. Newcastle is St. Jo's only blemish on their record this year. Given that Newcastle was a very good team that didnt make the playoffs and the score was close. If St. Jo is healthy/full strength, I can see them beating Avalon. Jonesboro surprised me, and they have had a tough schedule and beat some very solid teams. They seem to be the team to beat in the East imo. Teams tend to get better as the season progresses barring injuries.

That was one heck of a game. Can't wait to see how the boys match up with Blum.

St.Jo has improved every week and are now in the quarterfinals. If they aren't the dark horse, I dont know who is. I just know they have talent and are hungry. I wouldnt be surprised if they pulled off another upset. Granted, I know nothing about Blum besides everyone saying they're the frontrunner of the east. I'm pulling for St.Jo on this one, hope they can prove the doubters wrong.

I guess all the “expert guessers” are to busy trying to pry their foot out of their mouth
Saint jo is on a roll and Blum make beat them but it’ll be a dog fight. Underestimated all year is exactly where they needed to be. Panthers +20.

Mmmmm there goes that name you log on by! Since when did you know it all they are going 11 man. It’s the research you put in failing you! And I provide you the bar to pry your foot outa your mouth Friday nite. Keep on rolling and controlling them bones when ya hot ya hot.

Just wanted to congratulate Blum on their quarterfinal win.
They played hard and took it to us.

It has been one helluva ride in 2019. We, BY FAR, exceeded everyone’s expectations!! (Speaking of those outside the Panther faithful.)

Can’t wait to see those 2020 Panthers take the field next year. FYI, we will be 6-man for the foreseeable future.
