Round One Picks

I believe the South bracket is much more competitive. I see four teams that have a legitimate chance at playing in Zephyr in December. The North bracket is dominated by one team and I don't see anyone challenging except for their first round opponent. It's that time!!! Here we go.

Longview & Granbury- Granbury wins easily.
WF Christian & Lubbock Kingdom Prep- Lubbock wins.
Brownwood & Lubbock CTK- Lubbock wins.
WFND & Freddy- Without a doubt the game of the week. A match-up of the semifinalists for the past two years, too bad it's taking place in the first round this year. I don't think either team is as good as last year and I don't expect it to be a 45 for Notre Dame. WFND definitely has the offense but Freddy has plays good defense. In my opinion, this game is still a toss up.

Seguin & Lake Jax- Seguin is hitting their stride, being fully healthy and playing pressure defense. Seguins wins easily.
Magnolia & Heath- A 45-ing for Heath. They have too much for Magnolia.
Orange & Castle Hills- I don't think Orange is the team they have been the past two years. Castle wins easily.
Believers & Alvin- Believers had a great year but it ends this week. Alvin is happy not to have Freddy on their side of the bracket. Alvin wins handily.

Well, Freddy sure seems to have Notre Dame's number. Heard the Eagles stopped Notre Dame just short of the goal line on the final play of the game. That's three seasons in a row that Freddy has ended the Notre Dame season.

And being on the top half of the bracket makes Freddy my choice to return to Zephyr around December 7th.

The bottom half of the bracket is murderers row. Whoever comes out of there is really gonna earn a trip to Zephyr.

Heath Fulton -- a strong, solid team that can put up points.
Seguin Lifegate -- showed me tonight that they are not going to easily abdicate their state champion status
Living Stones and Castle Hills should be a real barnburner.
