We got a call this weekend from a recruiting type agency called NCSA wanting to "help" us get my sons name out to some colleges. The guy presented a great product and gave some great stats as to the percentage of kids placed in programs and amout of financial aid given. Of course this comes with a nice price tag also. Knowing that usually if it sounds to good to be true it most always is I thought I would ask if any parents or coaches on here might have some advice or experience with such organizations. If my son was to receive just half of what he said the average student athlete got it would be money well spent. The info I have found on the net runs about 50/50. Nothing though beats someone who have actually had the experience .
I'm too much of a skeptic when it comes to service type companies that are located on the web or don't have a brick and mortar store I can visit.

Im using them right now for my son so for its been very good service. little leg work for the parent at first but then they go to work and my son has had bout 40 colleges interested in him. Its hard for a 6man player to get looked at by a college most 6man coaches dont put out the effort to get there players a scholarship so its up to the parents. If they get a scholarship this would be well worth the investment. The way i looked at it my son getting a chance to play college ball is worth more then the $900 they charge.

NCSA is not bad if you do not mind putting a face with a name. Also all of the schools that they do find for these young men are all D3 schools which are private schools and their cost a year is 45,000 + a year, and do not give out Football scholarships it's mainly academic money. Even if they were to give you a look you are still looking at paying mad money for admittance. In these days and times it's about who you know, and if your boys are going to camps etc. many of these young men go to Baylor, Oklahoma, Tech camps and such and the reality is those schools already have their guys and are already recruiting sophomores, juniors. Not only that you will have 300+ kids at their summer camps and are working out certain athletes before you even get there. If your son isn't being recruited at all this means No personals (hand-written letters), phone calls, emails, and such then I would send them to lower level camps like a Sam Houston St, Southwestern Oklahoma, WT, etc. Even with WT 'West Texas A@M" they can get the cream of the crop so if your boy isn't as thorough size, speed etc then that may not be the school either. Parents as well as the athlete have to be realistic about the next level and the best way to do that is to get a roster of a team you are interested in and look at the size of the boys on that roster and see if you match up if not move on. Recruiting agencies are big business so be careful but there are some legit ones out there. Last but not least if you have a junior colleges can not talk with you until the 2nd week of april thats ncaa rules, and do not forget about getting Clearinghouse Certified that is the only way your son/daughter can even be considered for recruiting.
