New Braunfels Christian is too high and the big sleeper is San Antonio Castle Hills.
Castle hills stays healthy they will be in the state game.

Listen folks, Week 0 and Week 1 rankings are for entertainment purposes only and often is based on prior year's performance. Let's wait until about Week 5; that usually shakes out last year's performances.

And as I say, the game is played on the field and not on paper.

But you could be right, my friend. Castle Hills could be problems for all of us in Dist 4. I'll be interested in seeing how Lifegate does on defense this Friday at Kerrville.

I think OLH takes Lifegate by 16, bigger division more team depth.

You could be right my friend.

But then again, defense wins championships. (Offense wins the other bowl games.)

Hello sixman friends, it's been a LONG offseason. I'm with freeagent on this one, jersey. You might have a good season and score a lot of points, but without a good defense you don't win in December. I agree that Castle will be better this year but to put them in the State game, well, as is said in an 80's hair-band jam, "It's just a fantasy." Castle is only better because of a certain transfer. Will that one player take them to the State game? I doubt it. They play a weak-sister schedule- only real tests coming from Freddy and LIfegate. I know those two teams play defense. OLH? More known for their, "score more points than you" type of defense.

District 4 looks like the district to watch. With Lifegate, Freddy, Castle and possibly San Marcos Hill Country making some noise. Up North I'd say NOtre Dame, of course, Granbury (I still want to call them Happy Hill), and Heath. I can't wait for the season to unfold. It's gonna be fun.

Easy boys. Lifegate will start just as many freshmen as seniors against OLH. It will be several weeks before we know if we are any good. We're still trying to get to the game with everybody managing to bring their full uniform with them!! I think OLH will be a very, very tough test for our young uns. They will hit you though....

Just a check ... are all these schools OPEN week 1?

If there is a game, please post AND let Granger know (schools playing, location, date and time) by email at sixmanguru -at- gmail -dot- com.

Castle hills did get a new player but they also have a pretty good QB, size at receiver and giant offensive line (if they would move the guard to wing back a play or two would be even better) who likes to tackle a 265 lb guy?
And OLH has made it into the playoffs pretty much every year for the past several?

And "Pup" might I suggest Tabasco and lemon juice it will make the bill of the hat a bit more tasty!

Castle Hills rolled and OLH 50-34=16
Pup , soak the hat in melted butter! Add garlic and BQ sauce as needed!
So Castle Hills beat OLH and OLH beat Lifegate and Fredericksburg lost, can I speculate that Castle might have a chance?

Give our friend football jersey the prize ... my somewhat off-kilter crystal ball. Sounds like my pal pup gets a little hat lunch. Stop somewhere on the Riverwalk after the UTSA/Oklahoma State game and I think you can find some beverage that will make that meal go down a little better. Maybe a stop over at Hooters in Rivercenter Mall...

He got it right, picking OLH and 16. They have a pretty decent offense, and we handed out more gifts in the late first quarter and early second quarter than Santa's sleigh on Christmas eve. I think we were something like 43 to 4 in takeaways/giveaways last year and we easily passed our 2012 total in that game; OLH scored something like 30 unanswered points in that time, which is a hole that's tough to dig out of.

Castle Hills always is in the district mix. There's still a lot of football between now and November.

UTSA hat kind of beat up by OSU ! Pup you should switch to hockey......

Okay, Jersey, I'm kinda impressed that you picked the Lifegate/OLH game on the head (16).

But as the old saying goes, even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile. Anybody coulda guessed that OSU was going to blow out UTSA (Gundy, the OSU coach was an assistant for Coker at U Miami many moons ago).

This week:
Castle Hills by 20
Don't like my next picks I think Roundrock and NB both have more talent but ..... Neither finish hard.
Lifegate by 6 ( loose this one and its a long season)
Fredericksburg by 10 (very well coached, should make the difference)
Dallas Covenent verse Throckmorton ....... Two 1A schools playing sixman ....Throckmorton by 8

I think you're sandbagging us on the CH pick. A win by 45.

Throckmorton is closer to div II than to 1A. I believe their enrollment was 58. Just sayin'.

Holy cow, jersey! Where did you buy your crystal ball? I want one.....

The cap went better with a cold Dr. P and a side of ranch! That'll be the last time I question you.

Castle Hills will 45 Atonement.
Seguin will have a tough time with NB but wins by 16.
Freddy? Are they for real? Losing to FEAST by 40! It will be close, Freddy by 2.

My Freddy spies tell me that it was relatively close (maybe within a couple TD's) going into the fourth quarter before FEAST took over the game. Maybe those bright lights that they have up at Freddy are the problem. I think Shipman's teams play better in the dark.

I was pretty pleased that Lifegate didn't give up against OLH and only gave up one td in the second half. Offense was set back by a couple walking-wounded injuries, but I expect those folks to be back by Friday. Lifegate doesn't have the depth in talent as they did last year (losing six seniors and two others by transfer didn't help), although I believe John Rabon has 17 kids in uniform, but many of them are freshmen and several of them are playing significant time for the Falcons.

I'll say that if OLH could control their penalties (at least five or six face mask calls and as many holding calls), they would have probably won the game by much more than 16 as at least two touchdowns were called back on penalties and one Lifegate turnover was reversed by penalty. If OLH has that problem as the season goes on, it's going to hurt them in district.

Lifegate has a tough game this week against NBCA, Buckholts will be a test and the two at the end of the season (Heritage and Castle Hills, both on the road) will determine the district champion one way or the other. Seguin/New Braunfels is a big football rivalry (the public schools had their 100th meeting this past week and Seguin snapped a 6-year losing streak in OT), so we need to keep the streak going (it is only the second meeting between LCS and NBCA, tho.).

I'm still sticking with D4 as a three team race between Lifegate, Heritage and Castle Hills.
