I'm writing this message tonight to send a message to my "kids" students and at this moment this is the best way I know how with the way social media works it will spread fast enough.

I have always told you all you are like my kids as soon as you walk into my classroom. You will annoy me, you will make me proud, you will do many things to my emotions but I will always love you and protect you like you're my own.

I'm grieving tonight just like many of you are. I will always remember those 3 we have lost tonight and I am praying for their family as I can only imagine the heartache they are feeling tonight.

I'm sitting here tonight thinking about my own son who is very close to this family and thinking about what he must be going through and because of that I feel I need to send out this message.

I have lost family members, friends, a brother, a sister, and most recently a dad and what I have learned through all of this is that we all grieve differently. Everyone last one of us. We also grieve differently as time passes.

Sometimes I have felt guilty because I felt like I didn't grieve in the right way or enough or to much or someone's expectations. But we all grieve differently and will grieve differently as time passes.

I bring this up because I am worried about your own mental health in these times and I want you to not feel guilty for your emotions. Feel the way you need to feel in these times that you see best to help yourself. It is okay to be selfish right now. Take care of yourself. I love you guys and you will all always hold a special place in my heart.
