Plainview Christian

Honestly, I don't see any talent coming from Plainview High and they lost some core seniors. They still do have Andrew Morales who has been central to that team's performance but I dont think it will be enough this year.

Well there is a good point brought up in this thread...nowhere to go but up! I will look optimistic for Plainview because I know they can do better, now whether or not they will do better is a totally different question.

Being a small Christian school it makes it difficult to predict what type of a team you will have each year. I think PCA has a shot at a better record this year for 2 reasons. It will be their head coach's 2nd year on the job and you always have to take into consideration the fact that they could have someone amazing transfer to the school from Plainview High...

well, so far it looks like no plainview high players this year, but i still think we'll do a lot beter this year. and dsanders, your the coach in HCA in AMA, right, if so cant wait to play yall this year.

Yep, but I graduated from Plainview Christian and my little brother was a senior on the team last year. My first game to head coach out at Heritage Classical Academy was against Plainview Christian (and my little brother) and we 45'd ya'll. It will be good to see all of you again (for district and homecoming no less!) even though we wont be on the same side of the ball. How are ya'll looking this year? Good luck this season and I will be praying for NO injuries for BOTH of our teams this year.

ya, you dont have to remind me about last year, (even though i was manager at the time, haha), but this year i thinik we might actually win a couple this year, even though we lost some core seniors. how do yall look this year? hey, a quick question, do you think yall could do some regular kick off this year when yall are up by 40??.....haha

I think people are in for a shock when it comes to PCA this year. I won't give details as to why but I strongly doubt it will be another 0-10 season and quite possibly at least a 5-5 season. I am pretty excited to watch these guys play, man I am gonna miss it.

As for dsanders, all of us at PCA know that you quite enjoy yammering on about your team and players and about how you crushed PCA this time or that time when you come around your alma mater. Just keep this in mind, you won't always be winning so I would recommend learning some humility. You are still a young coach and have a lot to learn so just because you are winning right now doesn't mean your on top or that you will always be there. When you post numbers W/L wise like Coach Wellman from CTK then you can talk. Thanks

There is my 1 cent worth of opinion.

I only joke around like that with people I know...like Cade and some of the other guys from Plainview Christian that I used to go to school with. I mean absolutely no harm by it and if I offended anybone I am truly sorry. As for Lubbock Christ the King...they have a phenomenal coach who has excelled for a number of years coaching 11Man, 8Man, AND 6Man. I can only HOPE and DREAM to one day be a coach like him with such a wealth of knowledge and experience...not to mention a very likeable personality!
Cade...as I told Dustin last year: We only on-sided every kickoff because that is all we could cover. Throughout last season it seemed like we got scored on many times off of kickoff due to deep kicks and that is why we stayed with the onside. Believe me, it wasn NOT to humiliate yall or to run up the score. Plainview Christian will always hold a piece of my loyalty. And remember, we may have beat ya'll in football but your girls basketball DESTROYED us :)

Cade, to answer your questions though: we look stronger this year than last year (mainly because our head coach ME actually has some experience), we have only lost one key player so our personnel is pretty much the same with a couple extra guys filling out our roster. And we WILL kick the ball deep on kickoff this year...I promise! Can't wait to see all of you again, tell the guys I said hi and good luck this season!

Any six-man team that has a kicker who can reliably kick the ball into the endzone is all of a sudden a good team. The chances of kicks being returned in this game is just too much to often take the chance (I was told of game not too many years ago where SIX consecutive kickoffs were returned for scores).

Most teams settle for the squib kick, make it go 15-25 yards and cover it (and maybe get a turnover). But that means the opponent usually starts between the 30-35.

Putting your opponent on the 20 and making them drive 60 yards is always putting your defense in a good spot.

Agreed. Special teams plays more of a role in 6man, especially in kickoff return. If u have an elusive, fast back and give them that much room to run around with only 6 defensive men on the field...it can be deadly part of your game plan.

Definitely true...last year Heritage Classical had a pretty strong team but due to coaching errors mainly on MY part our special teams really dragged our team down. We have been working on that a lot more this year and we hope to be more consistent with our PATs, with getting our kickoffs into the endzone, and if the kick is returned at all we hope to have an aggressive and technically astute kickoff team that will shut down the runner.

yes, coach sanders, i DO realize that you are just messin' with the people from your alma matter. i was just kiddin about the onside buisness. and yes, our girls did beat yall last year, but thats all i hear at our school, is about the girls basketball team.

and spectre, you need to calm down. at least he isnt like his little bro, right......and im just kiddin' on the coach sanders....haha

and we lost some key seniors to, but at least we now have a little better team chemistry, since the seniors we lost were always aruging, and yes every one, i know i cant spell. sorry spectre, but you and coach S. little brother were ALWAYS aruging, and no offence, but i think it kinda drug us down, but please dont think that i am puttin all of the blame on a bad season on yall, it probly would have helped a little if yall ahd a better center other that me...haha

Team chemistry is HUGE! It probably didn't help that ya'll had to beg guys to play so that ya'll would have enough players last year. I know that my little brother wasn't able to make all the practices and THAT hurts the team more than anything else. The guys you have left should mesh pretty good though. You still have Andrew Morales right? And how about that little fast guy...should be a sophomore this year. I can't ever remember his name but he was probably one of your best players last year.
