I kinda hope the Pine Drive kids showed up with the thought that if they played their best game and gave their best effort, they had a chance to compete...and win. Otherwise, I think they really wasted their week of practice.

We went to play San Antonio Atonement yesterday. I had been told by other coaches that we could take it easy this week. Well, they kept us on our toes for most of the first half; you could tell they had decided that they were going to try and make a game of it (we did win, 61-12; only 38-12 at half).

I’m the one that said Pine Drive was the real deal back around week 3, and I still say they are. Most every team we’ve played until this week was a game. On any given day we could have won or lost.
Brenham is in another league. That team from top to bottom is a machine! That group looks like they eat drink and breathe 6 man football. They play tough but clean, they execute, if you get over on them once they adjust and they adapt.
I’m going to Moody to watch them play in the championship game...I hope some team can make it a game.

Toddm; sound like you saw the brenham/pd game....does brenham have a signature." bread and butter" formation / play this year? Last year they made a living running the sweep.

I really don’t post on this site but I felt compelled to after last night’s game. First, hats off to Brenham THEY are the real deal. My guys were pumped this week and were ready to play. Last nights game was just a matter of being out gunned and out played. We came out and scored first and were up for all of about 2 plays. Brenham is very good at finding your weakness and exposing it. As far as #7 being good, yes. So are the other 5 on offense and defense. So good luck to Brenham the rest of the year and good luck to anybody who gets in their way.

So in other words, Brenham had to come from behind to win.

Reminds me of a coaching friend of mine, coaching girls buckets. She's playing the reigning state champion and her team scores the first bucket to lead 2-0. The other team runs off 89 straight to win, 89-2. She tells us that the other team had to come from behind to beat her girls.

I have to take a least a little positive away from the game. :P In all seriousness we were able to move the ball against them a few times, but you fool them once you better make it count. Chances are it’s not going to work again. They have a great group of well coached athletes.

Brenham. Those boys can ball. Classy group of kids/coaches. Wish them the best in representing our district.Hope our boys can take something positive from it and prepare for playoffs.

And as far as the comments as this is the week this and that... our team has kept it clean on here all year and we will keep it like that. We our a good team with a lot of heart and I'm proud of my boys. We prepared this week like its another day at the office as we have all year.

Good luck to all teams in d2
I'm gonna go watch living stones/ tx Christian. See who will be playing for 3rd place.

Flex.

Pine Drive looked like a shotgun last night and Brenham looked look a skilled sniper! Pine Drive threw a lot at them with everything they had and made some impressive plays... Brenham executed accurately with a whole lotta power. I have a feeling those Brenham boys have played together for quite a while. They have players in all the right positions and giving it all every play. As soon as one had a grip on a PD runner, the rest were there. It was like watching hornets protecting their nest.

Anyways, good luck to both teams!

You guys always have such nice things to say about our Brenham boys. Yes, they are good - and good at working together. But the thing that means the most to me is that they fight fair and win with good sportsmanship. It doesn't mean a thing to win if you act like a donkey rear end.

The only thing that I could see that Pine Drive lacked - more players! They were quite good - hard to bring down even when you had a hold of them - made good passes. FAST runners! If they had about twice as many players it would of been a real even game. They should be very proud of the job they did.

I will tell you madam that our team as a whole really likes the Brenham guys and says they play hard, and are clean. Are not cocky and smack talkers- just respectable young men. In fact, after ya'll beat us last year, my son said it was too cool. The Brenham players were celebrating in their locker room and dancing to the music of "What is Love..Don't hurt me ..no more" .My son said, "Dad thats exactly what we would have been doing" And it actually started a tradition with our guys.....They now have a victory dance to some popular hip/op song that is epic to watch...so in a way , Brenham taught us to dance...God Bless

Wow - that's a great story - my son was a senior last year - he just loved playing - but he was always a softie at heart (don't anyone ever tell him I said this). They went all the way to state and lost - but you know, they were fine with it - they knew they had made mistakes and allowed the other team to get a big lead and they accepted it and moved on. I think I was more proud of them than I would of been if they won. Wellll it would of been nice to win though - I have to admit.
