Official Sixmanfootball.com Rankings

This time of year... with all the young players and kids learning new roles, there are always kinks to work out. The best teams I've ever seen in the postseason I also saw at times struggle in scrimmages. There are a lot of Week 1 matchups that will make fans think the season is going to be absolutely amazing.. or possibly a complete bust. We have 6 or 7 weeks till any games really matter though. That doesnt mean we cant talk about it ;)

I thought the Jonesboro Gordon scrimmage turned out well. Rain free and hopefully no injuries. The eagles looked a little flat at times but still out played the Longhorns. Good luck to both teams this year.

Jonesboro looked solid. Gordon is still tinkering with positions a bit but should be fine as the season gets rolling. Gateville has some neat facilities, but it would have been nice to have more water sources available, it was muggy and hot down there!

I know this isn't a perfect science but I often question how common sense can't be added into this equation.

For example, how is Chester ranked 22nd in the poll? They lost their head coach, a number of great players to graduation along with a number of players who have chosen not to play. They arent even in the top 2 selected from their own district yet are ranked well above the #1 and #2 projected teams.

I can't figure out how Nueces Canyon is ranked 52nd when they have no recent history in six-man and from all accounts I've already heard, they aren't very good yet they are ranked above Tioga team who finished 8-2 last year and Savoy who went 8-4.

Anyway, I appreciate what you do Granger, just curious how the toy came up with these rankings.

Do you realize the kind of dough Granger drops on tequila and cocaine for the drunken monkeys? Or how many chickens he had to butcher to read their entrails in order to come up with these preseason rankings?

I am selling subscriptions for my ranking system.............. It's the only one I know of that keeps everybody happy, happy, happy..............

Hey. I make this all up. Truth.

Mostly just to encourage hot takes. A little bit because I have nothing else to do.

I appreciate the support.

Before I am accused of being a pain, here's my official response

I am not going to go over how these got created. The important part starts in a week.

As for some team being ranked in some spot above two teams that are the favorites:
A) I have not published a list of district predictions anywhere, so when you confuse two different sources, please remember that's not me.
B) I published to the database rankings for 301 schools last night (including a few out of state and JVs). Could a school or two be out of whack? Of course, I guarantee it.

Granger I personally think you did a good job on the rankings, the only thing I would change would be Jonesboro 1 Borden county 2. Thanks

I can tell from way over here in East TX. that you must be smiling a little bit each year that the rankings come out.... sure, it's a guess even with info about how many kids return, etc., etc.,,,,, add fuel to the fire I always say......

One key to understanding the rankings is this... Many years ago Granger traveled to Richland Springs and as the Guru of one of those new interweb sites, about sixman football, he was treated royally and feted with a tailgate potluck. RS went to Number One. Been there most of the time since. He made them #1, they believed in themselves and as a result a it's been self perpetuating ever since. Coach Burkhart just happened to land the peachiest job ever, it was all set up for him from that day on. And Goob and Smokey have something to be proud of.

true story. the only thing they left out was I had to be fed several times. I still dream about the stew cooking at the front gate.
