Driving back from Abbott last night, I was catching up on podcasts. Aside from being a math nerd, many of you probably don't realize I started college as a double major in chemical and petroleum engineering but ended up with an economics degree... I like to listen to Planet Money. It is straight forward and usually very interesting. Last night I caught up with one from October 29th...

In it was New Home cotton farmer Dahlin Hancock and a discussion on cotton subsidies vs. the Brazilians.

"They keep coming to the table ... always bitching and complaining." —Dahlin Hancock, Texas cotton farmer, on the Brazilians.

What a coincidence, I stumbled into an economics class by mistake once while matriculating at John Tarleton Institute. I ran out as soon as I woke up.

Given that the price of cotton is at a 140 year high, the subsidies will not be needed this year

Wanna bet? There's gonna be a bunch o' Congresscritters that will fight to keep them ...

Yeah, I will not argue that. I just hope they will at least follow the law and let them go away for as long as the price stays above the floor.........
