Amen Bearcat,
I amashamed to say that I let business and football kind of overshadow December 7 this year. Yes, I did remember it was Pearl Harbor day and intended to post something that reflected that event, but we live in a busy world today and I let it slide.
I am grateful that the "Greatest Generation" did not let that happen to them.
My Dad, Father-in-Law and 2 uncles all served in World War II. Unfortunately only my Father-in-law and one uncle is still able to observe December 7.

A belated thank you, Bearkat, from the niece of two Pearl Harbor survivors. I have the diaries they began writting as soon after the attack as they had time to begin jotting down a few lines. It took those two sailor brothers over two weeks to learn that both had survived.
About three years ago my son and daughter-in-law were planning a two week vacation in Hawaii and the fact that they have very different likes and dislikes became obvious. He finally told her that if he could have one full day at the Arizona Memorial she could plan all the rest of the trip. He still thinks he got the best of that marital compromise!

You're welcome. I worked with an engineer who was in the army at Pearl Harbor that day. He retired in 1984 and died last year, but never forgave the Japanese for the attack. His buddy in a bunk next to him in the barracks took a 12.7mm machine gun bullet to the head. He said seeing that happen still gave him nightmares 40 years later. Being an airplane mechanic, it was the only combat he ever saw.
