Neil Armstrong Dies at Age 82

First man to walk on the moon died today. A self described white socks, pocket protector, nerdy engineer, a major league hero to a lot of engineers my age who watched him and Buzz Aldrin walk on the moon on that hot July afternoon in 1969.

I was 4 when Mr. Armstrong made his historic walk. It was after dark that day and I remember, as clear as any memory I have, my dad making me go outside to turn off the water hose in the front yard.

I looked up at the moon and knew that there were people walking around up there. Scared the crap out of me for some reason.

I was a nerdy 13 yr old, who just had to go launch a couple of rockets after I saw them step out on the moon.
