Week 2 Player of the Week:
Jake Gerber – Nazareth – 484 yards of total offense, 11 TDs scored; 4-175 yards, 4 TDs receiving
Gerber scored 67 points in Nazareth’s 94-80 win over then-#10 ranked (in D1, #20 overall) Ropes. His great night on the ground (309 yards, 7 TDs rushing) was only eclipsed by an amazingly efficient night receiving. He caught four passes for 175 yards, finding pay dirt all four times! Jake also lead his team recording 20 tackles on defense.

Honorable Mentions:
Taron Smith – Milford – 212 yards, 6 TDs passing; 224 yards, 3 TDs rushing
Taron had a hand in nine of Milford’s 10 touchdowns and accounted for 436 total yards of offense, as the Bulldogs defeated a tough Jonesboro squad 71-44.

Travis Prochko –The Atonement Academy (San Antonio) – 84 points scored, 587 yards of total offense
An amazing 32.57 yards per carry, Prochko recorded 456 yards on the ground and also hauled in four passes for 131 yards receiving. He scored on half his carries and all four times he caught the ball…oh and for good measure, was 9/12 kicking PATs for a whopping 84 total points. However, it wasn’t enough, as Atonement lost 96-90 to Round Rock Christian.

Dai’quan Brown – Lueders-Avoca – 9 TDs scored, 423 yards of total offense
Scoring nine total TDs, the amazing freshman running back for Lueders-Avoca helped the Raiders defeat Loraine 82-80. Of the three kickoff returns Dai’quan fielded, he returned two of them for TDs. Brown also recorded nine tackles, pulled in an INT and forced a fumble on defense.

James Green – Calvert – 18-19-0 for 235 yards, 5 TDs passing
In what was hailed the Game of the Week, Green came up big, passing the ball, he completed 94.7% of his passes, with five TDs in a big 74-38 win over Coolidge.

Colt Mallory – Union Hill – 21 tackles
Mallory turned in one of the best defensive nights, amassing a week two high 21 tackles on defense, as Union Hill fought off a game Lucas Christian, 96-78. Offensively he also put up stat lines of seven carries for 189 yards with two TDs rushing and was 2 for 3 passing for 80 yards and one TD.
