You have Crowell in front of Valley. Is your computer not aware that Valley beat Crowell just a couple of weeks ago? Now Valley is ranked11 points behind the team they bested by 16? Short memories and way too much weight given to the victory over MC.

My computer is completely aware of the Valley/Crowell results. It just doesn't care. Teams change throughout the season. Some get better, some get worse. Some may get better then worse. It is my understanding the MC had a key player out. So even though they dropped, they will more than likely come back up. Crowell will more than likely drop a few points in upcoming weeks and go back to where they should be. Its not a perfect system, none of them are. I was only 80% correct this week. What was yours?

I think it's extremly over simplified

Oakwood beats Milford by 9 then milford goes 1-2 the next 3 weeks, so based upon that Milford is ranked 36 spots ahead of Oakwood ...sounds logical

Teams can get that much better in two weeks? Or that much worse? Even after a head-to-head match up proving who the better team is?

Wow.

I just love rankings and ranking systems. What would we argue about or make fun of if we didn't have them?
OBK, didn't the Romans used to debate who the best chariot drivers were. You remember that don't you?

you guys got to wait on mine- I just got in from the ranch and I got to take care of some stuff like putting up all the guns and ammo. I'll try to get my system running as soon as I can.

Rainjack, Would you say a 12 point win is close in a 6-man game? I would. How much did Valley beat Crowell by? It was 12 wasn't it? Wow!

I do see Valley ranked above Crowell, but if way too much weight was given to Crowell for the MC victory, Valley should fall some as well, correct?

I answered your question, answer mine. Do you actually read the entire post and put any thought into your posts? Crowells rating is high because MC had an injured player. I already said that. PAY ATTENTION.

To answer your next question, can a team get that much better or worse in 2 weeks? MC did. Why not? Injury, confidence, GRADES after next week....... All of these can affect how a team does against any given opponet. And that is in no way all inclusive, there are numerous factors which could affect the outcome of a game.

To address your last question I will provide you with an example which proves that a head to head match up does not always prove who the better team is. It only proves who the better team is at that moment in time. 2008, week 9, Strawn at Gordon. Gordon wins by 30. Same year, 4 weeks later, Strawn vs Gordon in playoffs, Strawn wins by 20+. By your "logic" Gordon had already proven they were the better team, so why even play? Just move Gordon on to the next round.

Not every state champ has a perfect 15-0 record, which means SOMEONE beat them at some point in the year, so they should have a lower rating than a team that beat them? But wait, the team that beat them lost to someone too, so the state champion that was 14-1, at best, should be 3rd? Gosh, I hope that nobody beat the team that beat the team that beat the state champion.

A win is a win. Crowell had their chance to prove they were better than Valley, but came up short. It's not like Valley just had a lucky night.

But to your suggestion that Valley should fall in the rankings - I'm really not that concerned. I just think there is a glaring fault in the system when Crowell can be ranked 11 power points ahead of a team that beat them by 14 or so just two weeks prior.

I read your reply, and it did not answer my question. Nor does your latest attempt. You are using absurd examples to try and duck my point. I understand if you just don't want to address it, but using such absurdities is more smoke and mirrors than any real attempt at an honest debate.

Your Strawn-Gordon example is particularly idiotic. What were they ranked? Were their records similar? Not a perfect example at all, unless you are trying to show an example of something that has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation in the first place.

I'm gonna LOL when the state champion is ranked below 4 teams they've defeated earlier in the season.

Rainjack, do you ever think before you speak? You say someone else's post is absurd, yet you make guarantees you have no way of backing. I'm not saying valley won't make the finals. I'm just saying there is no guarantee of it. There are too many other good teams to be sure of anything.

You have got to learn the difference between an honest discussion (this thread) and bragging (completely different thread). Using examples from the latter to make a point in the former doesn't work.

I did answer your question. Crowell's rating is high because they 45'd a MC team with an injured player. PERIOD. That's the 3rd time I have said that. PAY ATTENTION!!

Now answer my question. What percentage of games did you get right with YOUR rating system?

Strawn was ranked higher than Gordon going into the second game that season. Both teams were 11-1 going into that quarter final game.

It worked well enough. It got you to admit to bragging. That was probably the first honest thing you've said in years. Congrats. Keep it up & others may actually start taking you seriously.
