Colton McCarley, Happy – 469 yards of Total Offense; 16-255 yards, 3 TDs rushing; 9-13-0 for 214 yards, 4 TDs passing; 13 tackles, 1 fumble recovery
In the game of the week there McCarley answered critics who pondered if he could fill in for Karson Bryant as he led the charge for Happy as they upset Richland Springs ending their 29 game win streak. A model for efficiency, McCarley averaged 15.9 yards a carry and completed 69% of his passes with 44% of his completions going for touchdowns. This overall performance in the biggest game of week 1 resulting in what many considered the biggest upset earns Colton McCarley the Player of the Week for Week 1.
