Leaving Christway

It is with a heavy heart that I write to the six man family. In this time of financial crisis our school board has had to make some changes at Christway. One of the changes is that the position of Athletic Director has been eliminated. My last day will be Thursday March 5th. PLease pray for me and my family (I have 3 daughters that attend CWA)as we will be looking for a new ministry to invest in.

I wanted to say to all of you who have touched my life, from my players to my brothers in coaching around the state, Thank you. You all have ment the world to me. Even if I continue at another school I wanted to tell you all that because we don't say thank you enough to each other in this business.

May the Lord bless you all and if you have an opening and need a coach, AD, Bible/history teacher, admissions person, cook, janitor, yard keeper, anything but assistant Librarian let me know. (sometimes you just have to draw the line somewhere) haha
Love you all. Coach O'Connor

If you want to get in touch with me please email me [email protected]. This is my home email.

As a parent of one of Coach O'Connor's former players, I am very sad for both Christway and Coach O'Connor. There is no finer person to lead, to mentor young men, to teach them teamwork, sportsmanship and Christian values. Any of you who have met Sean know what a fine man he is. Any of you who have seen his teams on the field know they play hard and with class. Beyond what he does on the athletic field, he is a caring man who ministers to all of the students throughout the year. I can truthfully say he made a major difference in my family and I could not recommend anyone higher.

So, if your school or a school you know of is looking for a man of God who can motivate, lead, teach and mentor in the most positive way, please let them know of Coach Sean O'Connor.

Coach O'Conner, sorry to hear of what is going on at Christway. During my short reign at Fellowship, I enjoyed our times together at meetings, football games, and just talking on the phone. I want to wish you luck in finding a job. I know any school that brings you on will be surely blessed. Take Care!!!

BTW - I don't know what the status is, but Wichita Christian was looking for A.D./Head Football Coach not too long ago.

Having worked with Coach O for 4 years assigning officials, This is hard to see. He was the glue that has held Christway togeather for the last few years when in the real world it should have closed? He worked long and hard doing anything and everything needed to keep them going. During this time something great happened...We became friends and I count it a blessing to be able to call him a friend of mine!

The district is really going to miss you Coach. Very few people know or appreciate what you have done for our district, serving as it's president in MANY sports. Needless to say, it will be a loss to us.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You know how to get in touch with me if you need anything.

Coach O

I am sorry to learn of your leaving CWA. You did an awful lot with minimal resources at CWA and it never seemed like you never received the credit you deserved. I believe your teams won at least one play-off game each of the past four years. Not many can say that. I always liked your offense - very innovative.

More importantly, you are a true mentor and have a great touch with your kids. You have enriched a lot of lives at CWA and Lighthouse. I hope you have the opportunity to stay in sixman - you are too good a coach to do anything else.

Hang in there.
