Then surely you remember Tom Dempsy. I saw his record 63 yard field goal live on tv, it stood for 40 years. Born with no toes on his kicking foot.

Just to clarify, it's legal, because there isn't a rule that restricts it - there is no rule that specifically says that it is allowed to be used, so like everything else in the rulebook, if it's not specifically restricted, it is allowed.
