Interesting scrimmages??

Not sure what you are disagreeing with but I will explain more

I went in questioning how good Water Valley would be, so them holding Strawn scoreless (I believe) is why that was my biggest takeaway. If I had to pick the 2nd best matchup Blackwell v Westbrook would have to be it by default as the others I thought were pretty one-sided and Im talking about 1st team matchups as there were some good 2nd team and JV matchups and all teams had underclassmen that impressed me...

I will admit I didnt watch much of Westbrook v Water Valley so maybe I missed something there. (I was engaged watching Blackwell v Strawn which is the one I paid the most attention to)

Water Valley was the bigger team and Strawn has some good size as well.

All teams Im sure got better from this scrimmage which is what you want.

Westbrook ran the same play back to back almost on one of their last plays vs Strawn and first plays vs Blackwell that was a nice little quick play action route, Strawn tackled the kid inside the 5 and the play scored on Blackwell...that was a cool play. Westbrook also ran a center sneak once that was cool to see.
Strawn didn’t even get a first down on WV

Well in my opinion even though Westbrook beat water valley 3-1 I wouldn’t it was one sided. I thought Strawn/Water Valley/Westbrook were all good scrimmages, Blackwell looked ok at times but were clearly over powered but I thought they have a good team for sure. Should make for successful seasons for all 4 in my opinion……… but I’m no expert.
that was the one matchup I didnt watch much of like I said (should have said that in first post I guess). The Strawn and Blackwell matchups where what I was more engaged watching...so keep that in mind...will agree with the rest of this as well

That response is a little misleading. Not to take anything away from WV defense, they looked good. But Strawn dropped a pass in the end zone. They also intentionally did not run the qb much in order to keep him healthy. He's very fast and once the season progresses we'll see what a weapon that is. But hey, everyone could say similar things. It was a good day for all teams to knock some rust off and see what needs improvement.

I was curious how the Westbrook, WV and BC scrimmage will go along with the Abbott/ Jonesboro scrimmage. Also very curious how Robert Lee will do. It seems a lot of folks are very high on them this year.

I attended the scrimmage
Westbrook hosted. BC had a bunch of players with a really fast spread back but WV was firing on all cylinders. They had an effective air attack as well as a run game. WV defense improved as the night went on and had a couple heavy hitters. The Westbrook/BC scrimmage looked pretty even, but to me WV stood out.

The opposing team looked gassed very early on. Not all, but like most teams would assume that if they were afforded the same opportunity like Itasca had been, they would dog walk any program that wanted to try playing up. That being said, I’m just glad the athletes in 1A are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
