Someone dropped of a little mutt of course in front of our house. Butch fed him for about 2 weeks and then decided to give him a bath. All of his hair was gone off his back.We thought mange or flea's. He took him to the vet and the vet said he had a flea infestation. He gave Peanut a shot, some shampoo and antibiotics. Now were back with the same problem. He is scratching all over again. We took him back and they said it was from the same thing, flea infestation but the problem this time is he gets a bath once a week with the special shampoo and he's homebound. There is no way he has a flea on him. The vet wanted 250.00 for one pill and me I would of gladly paid it but my husband is a penny pincher. If anyone has any idea what this could be I'd sure appreciate your help. We are the grown up dogs or cats drop off. People decide they don't want to treat or feed their dogs and we get em. We haven't thrown one away. If we can't get them doctored up and given away we keep them. As of now were feeding about 17 wildcats. I have this thing in my head if we have plenty of wild cats they will keep snakes away. Copperheads love our flower bed.

Oh my gosh Smokey Bear you found Peanuts problem. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Now I need to go back and read and see what he needs. He is an older dog and vet did mention allergies. I'm going to go read and see what he needs. I love you I love you I love yous!!!

Yes you are so smart Smokey Bear, he has flea allergies. We have kept him bathed but to no end of the scratching and digging into his skin with his teeth and from what I read we were doing the right thing except putting Frontline on him. The flea has a saliva and when it bites the dog it starts the inching, a miserable itch. I even start scratching. Thank you my Smokey. You are the smartest man around. I'm gonna get in trouble for saying this.

Our rotten mutt also has a food allergy. Regular commercial dog food made his skin break out and he was always scratching. Getting him Natural Balance stopped the problem.
